OUR HISTORY
Formerly Aklan Reformed Baptist Church, while yet a small fellowship of believers, began holding public meetings on September 11, 1994 and held weekly meetings every Sunday under the oversight of the Sovereign Grace Church of Malate, Manila, Philippines. It was formally constituted as an independent local church on April 9, 2000. OUR PURPOSE
The purpose and design of Kalibo Reformed
Baptist Church is to walk together in ecclesiastical life and practice so as to be and do everything Christ in the Scriptures wills for a local church, whether respecting our existence as an institution, our membership, our leadership, our commission, our order, our assemblies, or our associations (KRBC Church Const. OUR DOCTRINE
The formal principle of the Protestant Reformation was the belief that Scripture alone is our authority for all faith and practice. However, we live in a day of doctrinal vagueness and confusion, so we need to be clear about what we believe the Bible teaches. Therefore, we have a written confession of faith that clearly states what we believe the Scriptures teach. We fully subscribe to the historic 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. We do not hold our Confession as equal to or above the Scriptures but as an accurate expression of the system of doctrine taught in the Scriptures. We have taken the name ‘reformed’ purposefully and for two reasons. First, it helpfully explains something of our historical and theological roots. There is a body of theological beliefs that is commonly referred to as the Reformed faith. Such biblical truths as sola fide (justification by faith alone ), sola gratia (salvation by God’s grace alone), sola scriptura (the bible alone is the basis for faith and practice), and soli deo gloria (the fact that God alone is to receive glory in the salvation of sinners) are the hallmarks of the Protestant and Reformed Faith. Secondly, we are seeking to reform ourselves and the churches of our generation back to the bible. We are making it our aim and ambition to come more and more in line with the Word of God. In this sense Reformed Baptists are not static churches. We want to go back again and again to the scriptures. We do not want to do things because the puritans did them or because other Reformed churches do them, we want to do what we do because we see it in our bibles. OUR WORSHIP
We believe in God-centered worship. As we gather on the day which God has set apart for worship, we come together to give Him the glory that is due His name. We do not come together primarily to feel better or to be entertained but to honor and please God. OUR EVANGELISM
The Great Commission of our Lord to preach the gospel to every creature is very important to us. However, we firmly reject all forms of evangelism that use psychological manipulation, gimmicks and schemes, because they are unbiblical and unnecessary. While these methods often result in impressive statistics and ‘decisions’, they fall short of producing true Biblical conversions. God’s chosen method of saving the lost is through the preaching of the gospel (see Romans 10:14-15; 1 Corinthians 1:21; 2 Corinthians 2:1-5). OUR LEADERSHIP
We hold to the biblical model of a plurality of leaders consisting of elders — also called pastors, ministers and bishops (Acts 11:30; 14:23; 20:17, 28), and deacons (Acts 6:1-6; Phil 1:1)
Elders, called to lead and feed the flock of God, should be qualified according to Scriptural principles, and gifted for their task by the Holy Spirit. (1Tim. 3:1-6; Titus 1:5-9). The deacons, selected to conduct the routine business of the church, should also be qualified according to Scriptural principles (Acts 6:3; 1Tim. 3:8-13).
