From January 31 to February 2, 2025, the Parish Youth Officers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish attended the VYD 2025 held at Sta. Ana Beach Resort in Balasdacu, Brgy. Japitan, Escalante City.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Fernando "Deng" Lopez, O. Carm., our Youth Director, Rev. Fr. Eduardo "JunJun" Adolfo Jr., O. Carm., as well as to the parents and all those who supported us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Your kindness and faith have inspired us all.

We, the two (2) delegates from our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Escalante, would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us morally, spiritually, and financially during the Regional Youth Day held at Jaro, Iloilo, last July 22-25, 2024. Especially, to our parish priest, Reverend Father Fernando (Deng) Lopez, O. Carm and to our Parish Youth Director, Reverend Father Eduardo Adolfo O. Carm, for trusting us and for letting us experience this kind of event where we had so much fun and learning socially, morally, and spiritually.πŸ’—πŸ’—

It will always be a great privilege to be part of this event and to be one of the pilgrims of hope and bearers of light. We truly appreciate your dedication and support to us, which will help us strengthen the love of the youth to serve the Lord and our ministry by echoing what we have learned from the said event.

July 5, 2024: Symposium on Early Pregnancy and HIV/AIDS Awareness is happening at the moment in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Escalante City spearheaded by Mount Carmel Parish Youth Organization (MCPYO) and St. Francis of Assisi Council with Rev. Fr. Eduardo Adolfo, O. Carm., the Youth Director of the Parish, Rev. Fr. Fernando Lopez O. Carm, the Parish Priest and Rev. Fr. Anecito Rodriguez O. Carm the Parish Spiritual Director.

The event was attended by the different Youth Organizations both religious and mandated. We pray for its success through meaningful and fruitful responses among the Youth in the community as they partake in the advocacy.

TINIEBLAS or TENEBRAE | While the majority of the ceremonies of the Catholic Church are joyous and celebratory, Tenebrae stands in stark contrast. With a dimly-lit church, a rarely-seen candle holder, somber tones, and a candle hidden behind a curtain or the altar, Tenebrae or Tinieblas (meaning 'darkness' or 'shadows') is a unique and special liturgy in the calendar of the Roman Catholic Church.

It is the morning prayer of the church on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. It involves extinguishing candles one by one [after each psalm].
The final [lighted] candle is removed by a server or cleric, and hidden behind a curtain or the altar, signifying the burial of Our Lord in the tomb. A noise is made, symbolizing the earthquake at the Crucifixion. In some locations, the clerics and congregation knock on their pews for a time. The candle is finally extinguished, and replaced on the hearse.
