David was a king, yet he cried.
He was anointed.
He was victorious.
He was chosen by God.
Yet despite the crown on his head, there were tears in his eyes.
David was not crying because he lost a throne.
He was crying because he saw a life end in unnecessary tragedy.
He looked at Abnerโs death and asked:
โDied Abner as a fool dieth?โ
Abner had strength but lacked surrender.
He resisted correction.
He delayed aligning himself with Godโs will.
Pride kept him from fully submitting.
This is the warning: do not die as a fool.
A fool does not die because he is weak.
A fool dies because he refuses instruction.
A fool dies because he rejects correction.
A fool dies because pride blinds him to the truth.

Joab was another reason a king could cry.
He was a mighty warrior, but he was also vicious.
He allowed revenge to rule his actions.
He killed Abner because of bitterness.
Strength without character becomes destruction.
Many are powerful in ability but weak in spirit.
Do not become like Joab.
Then there was David.
A king carrying heavy burdens.
He faced betrayal.
He faced division.
He faced grief.
He faced battles within his own kingdom.
Sometimes what makes a king cry is not enemies outside.
It is betrayal inside.
It is a wasted destiny.
It is watching people destroy themselves through pride and rebellion.
Then comes the enemy.
John 10:10 (KJV)
โThe thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroyโฆโ
The enemy wants to
Steal your passion for God
Kill your prayer life
Destroy your worship
Lucifer once had a place in heaven, but rebellion caused his fall.
He desired what only belonged to God.
That is why he fights worshippers.
Because worship gives God glory.
Do not die as a fool like Abner.
Do not live like Joab in bitterness.
Do not waste your life in rebellion.
Kings may cry.
Leaders may weep.
Believers may hurt.
But do not die as a fool.
Live surrendered.
Live obedient.
Live worshipful.
