The Fear of God
Deuteronomy 13:4
[4] You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.
- Fearing God - to reverence Him, honor Him, exalt Him, lift Him up, hold Him in high regard, worship Him, to obey Him, acknowledge Him and honor His position as Creator and Judge of mankind

Romans 8:15
[15] For you did not receive the spirit of bo***ge again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
Psalms 33:8 NKJV
[8] Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

I John 4:18
[18] There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Ecclesiastes 12:13
[13] Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all.

When we fear God, it does something to our health:

- Fearing God, actually brings confidence, not insecurity

[26] In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.

- JESUS constantly showed deep reverence for the father
John 5:19
[19] Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

- JESUS taught fearing God the right way
Matthew 10:28
[28] And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Living in the fear of God in daily; how do we live this out?
1. You take God's Word seriously
Psalms 119:38 NKJV
[38] Establish Your word to Your servant, Who is devoted to fearing You.

2. You walk humbly
Micah 6:8 NKJV
[8] He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

3. You turn away from sin
Proverbs 16:6 NKJV
[6] In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.

4. You grow closer to God
Psalms 25:14
[14] The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.

God shares His heart with those who fear Him. When you fear God
- your worship becomes deeper,
- prayer becomes more honest
- obedience becomes joyful
- The fear of God doesn't shrink your life, it's sets you free

Luke 6:46-49

And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. [49] But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

REPENTANCE FROM DEAD WORKS

Romans 3:23

What is Repentance?
- The basic meaning of "repentance" means "change of mind" which results in a change in outward action.

REPENTANCE IS NOT AN EMOTION
IT IS A DECISION

- True repentance is a change of mind that results in a change is the act of turning away from sin towards God and righteousness turning away shows the inward change of mind which has occurred.

TRUE REPENTANCE IS NOT AN EMOTION BUT A DECISION

HOW GOD PROVIDES
I Kings 17:2-12
[2] Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, [3] “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. [4] And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” [5] So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. [6] The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. [7] And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. [8] Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, [9] “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” [10] So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” [11] And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” [12] So she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

1. Where God guides, He provides
- when you follow God's leading, when you follow God's prescription; you will find yourself in His provision. God provides those He leads
- Sometimes, it's not our financial problems that hurt us, it's our financial fears that bring anxiety. How am I going to provide?; where will I get the money to pay my dept?; where I get the money to buy the next meal?; we tend to overthink

2. Where God guides, He hides
I Kings 17:3
[3] “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.

- Appreciate what God is keeping you away from.
Things that would harm you; you are not sick, you are kept safe from injuries or accidents
- God's blessings are not only in stuff we get; but in stuff we don't get as well

3. When God provides, it may not always be in surplus, but in sufficiency.
- "sakto lang". God gives just enough for each day
- blessings is sufficiency
- learn to be content with what the Lord gives each day
- Don't covet and envy what somebody else has. Don't compare your provision with somebody's prosperity. We see our neighbors more prosperous than us. Your neighbor is in his season, you will have yours
- Develop an attitude of gratefulness if you have just enough; your needs are being met; you will be surprised how fast God will take you out of the season of "just enough" to "more than enough".

4. When God provides, it is both natural and supernatural
- God does not replace the natural with the supernatural. He adds the supernatural to our natural
- God wants to partner with you. He does not want to replace you. He doesn't want you to do nothing like the dog who does nothing but bark and wait for it's owner fi provide him.
- God wants you to create, "dumiskarte": to plan to innovate; to take your steps. And as you are moving, He will direct your steps. God will not move a parked cat.
- God wants to work hard and believe hard. Miracles happen when we believe hard. Believe hard means exercise complete faith and trust in His provision.
- God cannot move without making miracles;
- He walked in water; He change water into wine; He healed the sick, He brought to life Lazarus from the dead, he fed people with 5 loaves and 2 fishes
- Do not limit God, do not put him i a box. He is a miracle worker. His specialty is the "impossible" it is His nature
- Believe God to pull you out. It is not how good you are. It is how good He is

5. When God provides, blessings come from unlikely places

6. When God's provision comes to an end, it's time to change course
- God doesn't stop being a provider even when his provision stops
- The book dried up and the ravens stopped coming. God instructed Elijah to go to the widow at Zapareth.
- Don't pray for the brook to get resurrected. Accept and ask God what is He gonna do next. He closed the door, He will open another one for you

7. When God provides for you, it is good when he provides through you, it is better.
- Next season, next strategy
1 Kings 17: 7-12
- God sent Elijah to provide for the widow
- He became a channel of blessings for the widow
- God will provide and bless you so you can also be a blessing to others

No substitute - no escape

God is not searching for good people
He is saving forgiven sinners

Judgement doesn't pass because your are worthy

Obedience to God is not a burdensome set of rules, but a loving response to His grace and the key to intimacy with Him

- it is an act of worship demonstrating our trust, setting us apart as His children and bringing blessings, guidance and peace

THE HEART OF OBEDIENCE
1. Obedience is a loving response
John 14:15
[15] “If you love Me, keep My commandments.

2. Obedience is better than sacrifice
I Samuel 15:22
[22] So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

3. Obedience is friendship with God
John 15:14
[14] You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

FRUITS OF OBEDIENCE
1. Divine guidance and Security
Isaiah 58:11
[11] The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

THE CALL TO ACT
1. Immediate obedience - Obedience should be prompt, recognizing that God sees dangers we do not

2. Total surrender-God asks for complete, rather than partial obedience

3. Overcoming resistance - When obedience seems hard, it is a call to surrender and trust that God's way is for our ultimate good

Obedience is not a mere duty, it is an expression of love; brings us closer to Christ, empowers us to live vicariously and opens door for the Holy Spirit to move in us in powerful ways
Matthew 18:21-22
[21] Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” [22] Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

1. Obedience shows our live for Christ
John 14:15
If you love me, keep my commandments

• Our love for Christ is demonstrated in how we obey him; Obedience is not mere compliance its about a deep connection with the heart of God. We obey because we love Him and we want to live in alignment with His will Obedience flows from love, if you love Jesus, you will want to follow His commands
Luke 1:38
[38] Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

• The Holy Spirit will come to those who obey and followed Hos commandments. He is not just a distant power, but the very presence of God that dwells within us and the Holy Spirit is given to empower us to obey
Matthew 5:44
[44] But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

• Obedience brings blessings and fruitfulness
John 14:21
Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves ma. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father I too, will love them and show myself to them
Obedience brings intimacy with him and opens the door for divine blessings and fruitfulness
Obedience to God may not bring immediate rewards but it will always bring fruitfulness. It positions us for God's blessings and we begin to see his hand move in our lives in ways we never expected
Obedience is not a burden. It is the key to growing in Christ and experiencing his presence and power in our lives.
