On December 5, 2024, the Municipality of Dumaran, Palawan, was officially reclassified as a 1st Class Municipality!
The Department of Finance, Department Order No. 074, series of 2024, has released the schedule of income classifications for the first general income reclassification of provinces, cities, and municipalities under R.A. No. 11964.
Enclosed in this order is the roster of provinces, cities, and municipalities with their respective income classifications, including the Municipality of Dumaran, which has been reclassified from a 3rd Class Municipality to a 1st Class Municipality.
This achievement is the result of the hard work and dedication of every DumareΓ±o, especially the Local Government Unit under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Richard R. Herrera, Municipal Vice Mayor Arnel T. Caabay, the Sangguniang Bayan Members, and all LGU Offices. Dumaran continues to thrive and move forward towards progress. This reclassification marks a significant step in advancing the LGU to the next level of governance.
Key Factors Contributing to Dumaran's Progress:
1. Enhanced Financial Capability: Dumaran's improved financial management has enabled it to achieve First Class status.
2. Stronger Fiscal Position: The municipalityβs robust fiscal position supports its development programs and projects.
3. Local Autonomy: Dumaran's commitment to local autonomy drives its continued economic growth.
Said achievement is made possible by Republic Act No. 11964, or the "Automatic Income Classification of Local Government Units Act," signed into law by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on October 26, 2023. The law aims to promote local autonomy and empower LGUs to reach their full economic potential.
