MESSAGE TO THE CLERGY, RELIGIOUS, & LAY FAITHFUL OF THE DIOCESE OF DUMAGUETE ON THE ELECTION OF POPE LEO XIV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

With profound joy, we, the faithful of the Diocese of Dumaguete, thank the LORD and extend our heartfelt congratulations and prayers to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on his recent election as the new Pope of the Universal Church. This moment marks a significant crossroad in the life of the Church, and we are filled with hope and confidence in his leadership and pastoral guidance.

As Pope Leo XIV begins his pontificate, we pray that he may be guided by the Holy Spirit in his mission to shepherd the Church and to promote the teachings of Christ in a world that is ever-changing and often challenged by division and uncertainty.

Let us support Pope Leo XIV through our prayers, as he navigates the responsibilities of leading the Church in a time when compassion, unity, and sensitivity to those who are in the peripheries are most needed. His dedication to social justice, interfaith dialogue, care for creation, and the promotion of peace resonates with our calling to be true witnesses of Christ's love in our own communities and to the world.

As we reflect on this landmark event, let us come together as a diocese to renew our commitment to live out the Gospel in our daily lives and to stand ready to support our new Pope in his efforts to guide us toward holiness.

In this spirit of unity and faith, we invite all parishes and communities within the Diocese of Dumaguete to offer special prayers and Masses for Pope Leo XIV, asking that his pontificate be filled with grace, wisdom, and the fervor of the Holy Spirit.

A huge thanks to everyone who supported and prayed for our seminarians during the Diocesan-wide Vocation Campaign, led by the Commission on Vocations under Rev. Fr. Kevin Rayoso. Special gratitude to the parish priests and parishioners across the Diocese of Dumaguete for warmly welcoming our seminarians and campaign participants.

Let’s continue to pray for more hearts to answer the call to priesthood this year!
