Buenavista (Dueñas) SDA Church Ushers in 2026 with Gratitude, Faith, and Mission
The first Sabbath of 2026 was marked with reverent joy and heartfelt thanksgiving as the Buenavista (Dueñas) Seventh-day Adventist Church gathered to celebrate God’s faithfulness in a way the congregation will never forget on January 3, 2026. What once stood as a humble place of worship without walls has, by God’s providence, become a newly furnished house of prayer—a visible testimony that the Lord truly supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory.
As hymns of praise filled the sanctuary, members reflected on the year that had passed with deep gratitude. Just a year ago, the church family worshiped with limited resources, trusting God amid uncertainty. Yet the Lord, who sees the end from the beginning, did not merely provide walls—He granted His children a complete, welcoming home for worship. The transformation of the Buenavista church building stands as a powerful reminder that when God builds, He builds with purpose, beauty, and enduring strength.
Though the congregation may be few in number, the spirit within the church is rich and vibrant. The celebration highlighted a truth deeply rooted in Scripture: God values faithfulness over figures, devotion over display. As the Lord reminded Samuel, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). In the eyes of heaven, quality disciples—those who love, serve, and trust God wholeheartedly—carry eternal significance.
The story of Gideon was also reflected upon, when God reduced an army of thousands to just three hundred, declaring, “The people with you are too many… lest Israel claim glory for itself” (Judges 7:2). In the same way, the Buenavista church family rejoices that God delights in working through willing, committed believers, proving that His power is made perfect not in numbers, but in obedience and faith.
Adding warmth and encouragement to the celebration was the presence of beloved brethren from the Di**le Seventh-day Adventist Church, who chose to spend the very first Sabbath of the year worshiping with the Buenavista church family. Their visit was a beautiful expression of unity and Christian fellowship, reminding everyone that the church of God extends far beyond walls and locations. Their prayers, smiles, and shared worship strengthened the bonds of brotherhood and affirmed that the mission of Christ is carried forward best when believers walk together in love and support.
As the Sabbath celebration drew hearts closer to God, the church looked forward with renewed vision. The year ahead is embraced as a mission-driven journey—one where this newly established house of worship will shine as a beacon of hope in the Buenavista community. Anchored in Christ’s words, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14), the church commits itself to service, compassion, and the proclamation of God’s love.
The first Sabbath of 2026 was more than a commemoration of God’s goodness; it was a consecration of hearts. With gratitude for God’s past blessings and faith in His future leading, the Buenavista (Dueñas) SDA Church steps into the new year confident that the same God who provided walls and furnishings will continue to build lives, strengthen faith, and use His people—few yet faithful—to bring light, hope, and salvation to all.
