Buenavista (Dueñas) SDA Church Ushers in 2026 with Gratitude, Faith, and Mission

The first Sabbath of 2026 was marked with reverent joy and heartfelt thanksgiving as the Buenavista (Dueñas) Seventh-day Adventist Church gathered to celebrate God’s faithfulness in a way the congregation will never forget on January 3, 2026. What once stood as a humble place of worship without walls has, by God’s providence, become a newly furnished house of prayer—a visible testimony that the Lord truly supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory.

As hymns of praise filled the sanctuary, members reflected on the year that had passed with deep gratitude. Just a year ago, the church family worshiped with limited resources, trusting God amid uncertainty. Yet the Lord, who sees the end from the beginning, did not merely provide walls—He granted His children a complete, welcoming home for worship. The transformation of the Buenavista church building stands as a powerful reminder that when God builds, He builds with purpose, beauty, and enduring strength.

Though the congregation may be few in number, the spirit within the church is rich and vibrant. The celebration highlighted a truth deeply rooted in Scripture: God values faithfulness over figures, devotion over display. As the Lord reminded Samuel, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). In the eyes of heaven, quality disciples—those who love, serve, and trust God wholeheartedly—carry eternal significance.

The story of Gideon was also reflected upon, when God reduced an army of thousands to just three hundred, declaring, “The people with you are too many… lest Israel claim glory for itself” (Judges 7:2). In the same way, the Buenavista church family rejoices that God delights in working through willing, committed believers, proving that His power is made perfect not in numbers, but in obedience and faith.

Adding warmth and encouragement to the celebration was the presence of beloved brethren from the Di**le Seventh-day Adventist Church, who chose to spend the very first Sabbath of the year worshiping with the Buenavista church family. Their visit was a beautiful expression of unity and Christian fellowship, reminding everyone that the church of God extends far beyond walls and locations. Their prayers, smiles, and shared worship strengthened the bonds of brotherhood and affirmed that the mission of Christ is carried forward best when believers walk together in love and support.

As the Sabbath celebration drew hearts closer to God, the church looked forward with renewed vision. The year ahead is embraced as a mission-driven journey—one where this newly established house of worship will shine as a beacon of hope in the Buenavista community. Anchored in Christ’s words, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14), the church commits itself to service, compassion, and the proclamation of God’s love.

The first Sabbath of 2026 was more than a commemoration of God’s goodness; it was a consecration of hearts. With gratitude for God’s past blessings and faith in His future leading, the Buenavista (Dueñas) SDA Church steps into the new year confident that the same God who provided walls and furnishings will continue to build lives, strengthen faith, and use His people—few yet faithful—to bring light, hope, and salvation to all.

Blessed to Be a Blessing: Buenavista (Dueñas) SDA Church Shares God’s Abundance Through Year-End “Love Packages”

On December 27, 2025, at the Buenavista (Dueñas) Seventh-day Adventist Church in Brgy. Buenavista, Dueñas, Iloilo, the congregation gathered on its Year-end Sabbath as a living testimony of God’s faithfulness. Standing within walls renewed by generosity and hearts strengthened by grace, the church reflected on a year richly filled with divine provision. Yet this sacred moment was not only about remembering blessings received—it was about releasing them. With grateful hearts, the church embraced its calling to become an instrument of God’s love, allowing His blessings to flow outward to families in need through the distribution of thoughtfully prepared “Love Packages.”

Each Love Package, containing fruits and essential foods for New Year’s Eve, symbolized the abundance God had entrusted to the church. What appeared simple in form carried profound meaning: the church acknowledging that every provision—material or spiritual—finds its highest purpose when shared. In extending these gifts, the congregation affirmed its mission to mirror God’s generosity and to let His love take visible shape within the faith community.

This spirit of giving reflected a Christ-centered approach to ministry. Ellen G. White writes, “Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good” (The Ministry of Healing, p. 143). Guided by this inspired counsel, the Buenavista church chose compassionate presence and practical service as acts of worship, recognizing that ministry is most powerful when it meets real needs with sincere love.

Throughout the program, church leaders and members testified to how God had continually sustained the congregation—not only through material means, but through unity, renewed commitment, and opportunities to serve. The distribution of Love Packages became a visible reminder that blessings grow richer when they are shared, and that the joy of giving deepens faith within the church.

The Year-end Sabbath also highlighted the role of stewardship in shaping a faithful community. Ellen G. White further reminds believers, “The greatest want of the world is the want of men—men who will not be bought or sold… men who in their inmost souls are true and honest” (Education, p. 57). Church leaders emphasized that such character is cultivated when a congregation consistently lives out generosity, integrity, and trust in God’s providence.

In the same spirit of gratitude, heartfelt appreciation was extended to donors and supporters whose contributions made possible the refurbishment of the church—inside and out—transforming it into an even more welcoming sanctuary for worship and service. Sincere thanks were also offered to those who gave for the Love Packages, whose quiet sacrifices became channels of God’s care for others.

As the year closed in grace, thanksgiving rose from the sanctuary—for blessings received in abundance, for hands willing to give, and for a church renewed in purpose. In every gift shared, faith was strengthened; in every act of generosity, God was glorified. For a church that is blessed and chooses to bless becomes a living sermon the world will never forget.

BSDAC celebrates ‘Best Dad’ Day

Recognizing the role of a father in the family, the Buenavista (Dueñas) SDA Church gave special credits to the “Adams” of every family on June 14, 2025.

During their regular worship, a special segment was inserted where dads shared testimonies of how the Lord helped them in their spiritual growth — enabling them to share the Love of the Father from above.

Sis. Michaella Cabanting served as the Spoken Word of God and she talked about her experiences with the Lord inspite of her youthful years.

Amidst the scorching heat of the sun, the sabbath worship remained undisturbed as the brethren studied the bible and sang praises unto His name.

In The Adventist Home page 211, the pen of inspiration says, “The husband and father is the head of the household. The wife looks to him for love and sympathy and for aid in the training of the children; and this is right. The children are his as well as hers, and he is equally interested in their welfare. The children look to the father for support and guidance; he needs to have a right conception of life and of the influences and associations that should surround his family; above all, he should be controlled by the love and fear of God and by the teaching of His word, that he may guide the feet of his children in the right way.”
