𝗗𝗶𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆
𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢 𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗔 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Catechists, both new and continuing, received their Missio Canonica today, marking their commitment to the mission of teaching and witnessing the faith.

The Holy Mass was officiated by our bishop, Most Rev. Severo C. Caermare at the Dipolog Cathedral.

Catechists are entrusted to carry out religious instruction in elementary and secondary public schools within the Cathedral Parish, and to lead catechesis sessions during Flores de Mayo.

In the months ahead, they will also facilitate Sunday Catechesis and Online Catechesis, which are expected to begin within the year, which extends their service through both traditional and digital platforms.

May the Lord guide and strengthen them as they continue to share His Word with dedication and love.

A renewed sense of purpose filled our hearts during the 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 yesterday, made even more meaningful through the inspiring talk of 𝗥𝗲𝘃. 𝗙𝗿. 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼.

You reminded us of our simple yet important mission—to guide, teach, and accompany the youth with love, patience, and understanding. In today’s world, where many young people are searching for direction and meaning, your words encouraged us to respond with patience, listening hearts, and sincere accompaniment that reflects Christ’s compassion.

Your message on mission and leadership encouraged us to serve with humility and sincerity, choosing kindness in every encounter and allowing our lives to become reflections of God’s love.

Thank you, Father Devin, for your inspiring words and for strengthening our commitment to this sacred calling as catechists—to serve faithfully, love deeply, and bring Christ closer to every young heart.

𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

On Day 5, Sir Romano Garsola presented a Creative Demonstration on the topic Creation.

Using simple and creative strategies, he showed how a catechism lesson can become more engaging and easy to understand. Through his demonstration, our delegates saw how to involve learners, use creative activities, and explain the message clearly.

This session helped our catechists realize that teaching can be both meaningful and creative at the same time.

Ma’am 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲 shared a meaningful and practical discussion on Lesson Planning.

This session guided us in understanding the importance of careful and intentional planning in catechesis. We were reminded that a well-prepared lesson helps ensure that the message is clear, organized, and responsive to the needs of the learners.

We were also introduced to the essential parts of an effective lesson plan—from setting objectives, choosing appropriate strategies, preparing materials, to evaluating learning. These elements help us deliver catechetical sessions that are engaging, focused, and fruitful.

As catechists, this encourages us to be more diligent and creative in planning our lessons, so that every session becomes an opportunity for meaningful encounter with Christ.

We thank Miss 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗕𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮 𝗖𝗮ñ𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗼 for sharing a meaningful and enriching discussion on Teacher-Learner Dynamics in Catechesis and Teaching Techniques.

This session helped us understand the importance of building a positive and Christ-centered relationship between the catechist and the learners. We were reminded that learners are not just passive recipients, but active participants in their own faith journey.

We were also introduced to effective teaching techniques that make catechesis more engaging, participative, and meaningful. Through these methods, catechists are able to communicate the message of Christ more clearly and help learners encounter Him in a personal way.

As catechists, this inspires us to become more creative, patient, and responsive to the needs of our learners, fostering an environment where faith can grow and deepen.

This session deepened our understanding of the rich sources of catechesis, especially Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the teachings of the Church. We were reminded that these sources serve as the foundation of what we teach and proclaim as catechists.

This session deepened our understanding of the Eucharist as the source and summit of our Christian life, where we encounter Christ in a real and profound way. It also led us to reflect on Eschatology, reminding us of God’s promises—our ultimate hope in eternal life and the fulfillment of His Kingdom.

Through these teachings, we were encouraged to live with greater faith, reverence, and purpose, always anchored in Christ and guided by the hope of what is yet to come.
