Tungod sa Pagtuo
Hebreo 11:23–29

Acts 2:38 is a verse from the New Testament of the Bible, where Peter tells the crowd on the day of Pentecost how to be saved.
**Introduction:**
Hello, everyone. Today as I share with you the good news of Jesus Christ. I want to tell you how you can be saved from your sins and receive eternal life. How you can be forgiven by God and filled with his Spirit. How you can become a part of his family and his kingdom. The answer is found in one verse: Acts 2:38.

**Body:**
Let's read Acts 2:38 together. This is what Peter said to the crowd after he preached to them about Jesus Christ, who was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead by God. Peter said, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." What does this verse tell us?

First, it tells us that **we need to repent**. To repent means to change our mind and our heart about our sin and come to our Savior. It means to agree with God that we are sinners who need his forgiveness and his power to live a new life. It means to turn away from our sin and turn to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It means to confess our sin and ask for his mercy and grace.

Why do we need to repent? Because we have all sinned against God and broken his law. Because we have all offended his holiness and provoked his wrath. Because we have all fallen short of his glory and deserve his judgment. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Second, it tells us that **we need to be baptized**. To be baptized means to be immersed in water in the name of Jesus Christ. It means to identify ourselves with him in his death, burial, and resurrection. It means to declare publicly that we belong to him and follow him. It means to obey his command and join his church.

Why do we need to be baptized? Because Jesus commanded us to do so. Because it is a sign and a seal of our salvation. Because it is a testimony and a witness of our faith. Matthew 28:19 says, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Acts 22:16 says, "And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name."

Third, it tells us that **we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit*. He is the Spirit of truth, who guides us into all truth. He is the Spirit of power, who enables us to do God's will. He is the Spirit of love, who fills us with God's love.

Why do we need the gift of the Holy Spirit? Because he is our helper and our comforter. Because he is our teacher and our counselor. Because he is our seal and our guarantee. John 14:26 says, "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." Ephesians 1:13-14 says, "And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory."

**Conclusion:**
My friends, I urge you today to heed the words of Peter in Acts 2:38: "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit." Do not delay or ignore this call. Do not think that you are too good or too bad for God's grace. Do not think that you can save yourself or be saved by anyone else. Only Jesus can save you from your sins and give you eternal life.

If you are already a believer in Jesus Christ, I encourage you today to examine your life and see if there is any area where you need to repent. Maybe there is a sin that you are struggling with or hiding from God. Maybe there is a command that you are disobeying or neglecting. Maybe there is a relationship that you are hurting or avoiding. Whatever it is, do not let it hinder your fellowship with God and your growth in Christ. Repent of it today and ask God to help you overcome it by his Spirit.

Remember, repentance is not a one-time event, but a lifelong process. We need to repent daily, as we walk with God and follow his will. We need to repent humbly, as we depend on his grace and mercy. We need to repent joyfully, as we experience his forgiveness and peace.

May God bless you as you repent and believe in him. Amen.
