𝐈𝐍 ππ‡πŽπ“πŽπ’ | Diocese of Digos Celebrates Pentecost

May 23, 2026 – The faithful of the Diocese of Digos gathered at the Fatima Center, Digos City in a vibrant demonstration of unity and spiritual renewal to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost.

​The gathering brought together diverse charism groups from across the diocese, all united by a shared mission: "Live Christ, Share Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit." The event served as a powerful reminder of the Catholic Church’s enduring mission to bear witness to the Gospel, echoing the scripture from Acts 2:4, "They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."

​This successful gathering of faith was made possible through the dedicated guidance of the Charis Spiritual Director of the Diocese of Digos, Rev. Fr. Allan Joie Nunez, DCD. By bringing together the various charismatic movements, the diocese showcased the beauty of a Church that is diverse in its spiritual gifts yet wonderfully unified in the Body of Christ.

​The day of prayer, praise, and fellowship reached its most important spiritual peak as it ended with a Holy Eucharistic Celebration presided over by the Most. Rev. Guillermo D. Afable, DD, Bishop of Digos. This Pentecost gathering served as a profound testament to the living faith of the community, calling all believers to continue their journey with a renewed fire for evangelization.

​Today, we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, the birthday of the Church. Just as the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and the Blessed Mother in the upper room, He continues to descend upon us today, empowering us with His gifts and guiding us in our mission.

​As the Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us,"On the day of Pentecost... the Holy Spirit is revealed, is granted, is manifested as a divine person: his coming, which does not cease since that day, causes the Church to enter into the 'last days,' the time of salvation." (CCC 732)

​Let us open our hearts to the movement of the Holy Spirit. May we be renewed, emboldened, and united as one body in Christ, ready to share the Gospel with joy and courage.
