Our Lady of Mount Apo Parish gathered in faith and prayer as we celebrated the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Henry Escasinas reflected on the Gospel of Matthew 16:13–20, where Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do you say that I am?”

Peter answered with faith: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

This Gospel invites each of us to reflect on the same question: Who is Jesus in our lives? Is He only someone we remember in times of need, or is He truly the center of our lives?

Like Peter, we are called to profess our faith and to trust Jesus in every moment of our journey—especially during times of doubt, difficulties, and challenges.

Faith is not only about knowing who Jesus is; it is also about allowing Him to guide the way we live.

May we continue to grow in faith and courageously proclaim:

“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Lord, strengthen our faith and help us to recognize You as the center and foundation of our lives.

Our Lady of Mount Apo Parish gathered in faith and prayer as we celebrated the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Henry Escasinas reflected on the Gospel of Matthew, where a Canaanite woman continued to ask Jesus for healing for her daughter. Despite the difficulties and seeming silence, she never gave up. Her faith, humility, and persistence touched the heart of Jesus.

The Gospel reminds us that there are times when our prayers may seem unanswered, but this does not mean that God has abandoned us. Like the Canaanite woman, we are called to remain faithful, patient, and persistent in prayer.

True faith continues to trust God even when we do not understand His ways or timing.

May we never lose hope in times of difficulty. May our faith remain strong, knowing that God hears our prayers and knows what is best for us.

Lord, strengthen our faith and teach us to trust You, even when the answers to our prayers do not come as we expect.
