Text: Matthew 8:1โ€“3

People often ask why sickness, trials, and problems happen. The Bible gives several reasons.

Some suffer because of personal sin (John 5:14). Others go through hardships so the works of God may be revealed (John 9:2โ€“3). Trials can also test a personโ€™s faith, just as Job experienced (Job 2:4โ€“6). The Bible also teaches that unfaithfulness in giving tithes can bring hardship (Malachi 3:9โ€“10).

Yet in the middle of every problem, one truth remains: **God is willing.** In Matthew 8:1โ€“3, Jesus healed the l***r and said, โ€œI am willing; be cleansed.โ€ This shows His compassion, power, and desire to restore lives.

No matter what people face today, God is still willing to heal, forgive, provide, and strengthen those who trust in Him.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Many people today live for personal success, fame, and the approval of others. However, as Christians, we are called to live differently. Our greatest purpose is not to bring glory to ourselves but to honor God in everything we do. Whether in our words, actions, or daily choices, our lives should reflect His presence and goodness.

We glorify God when we live a holy life. According to 1 Peter 1:15 to 16 and 1 Thessalonians 4:3, God calls His people to be holy because He is holy. Pastor Mark Navarro said in his message, โ€œAng taong banal ay taong umiiwas sa kasalanan.โ€ A person who truly honors God chooses to walk away from sin and live according to His will.

We also glorify God through obedience. In John 15:10, Jesus taught that those who obey His commandments remain in His love. Truly, โ€œAng pagtupad sa Kaniyang Kalooban ay ang pinaka mataas na uri ng parangal.โ€ Obedience is not just a duty but an expression of love and faithfulness to God.

Lastly, we glorify God when we humble ourselves before Him. Matthew 23:12 teaches that those who humble themselves shall be exalted. Humility brings honor, wisdom, and blessings, as seen in Matthew 5:5 and Proverbs 22:4. A humble heart recognizes that all glory belongs to God alone.

May our lives become a testimony that points others to Him. In holiness, obedience, and humility, we can truly give glory to God.

In a time when burdens seem to multiply faster than solutions, the message drawn from James 4:8 offers a perspective that challenges both instinct and habit: โ€œDraw near to God, and He will draw near to you.โ€ It reminds believers that the answer to lifeโ€™s struggles is not distance from God, but closeness to Him.

This reframing becomes even more compelling in the account of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:45. Davidโ€™s story is often romanticized as a tale of bravery, but the deeper issue lies in where his confidence was rooted. He faced criticism from his brothers, doubt from King Saul, and intimidation from Goliath himself. Yet Davidโ€™s declaration, โ€œI have come to you in the name of the Lord of Heavenโ€™s Armiesโ€ was not mere rhetoric. It was a statement of identity and authority. The message is clear: this is not a time for fear, but a time to confront the โ€œGoliathsโ€ of today, our crises, personal battles, and unseen struggles, not alone, but aligned with God.

Perhaps the most powerful element of the message was not spoken, but demonstrated. A simple yet profound illustration unfolded as a volunteer was asked to carry chairs, one added after another. With each additional chair, the weight increased, visibly straining the one carrying them. It became an unmistakable picture of human reality. People carry layers of problems, pain, loneliness, and silent battles, often without realizing how heavy the load has become.

The point was both direct and uncomfortable: many have grown accustomed to carrying what they were never meant to bear alone. The chairs represent the accumulated weight of life, unreleased, unshared, and often hidden. And yet, the solution is not found in building more strength to carry them, but in learning to let them go.

To โ€œcome in the name of the Lordโ€ is, therefore, more than a spiritual phrase. It is a decisive act of surrender. It means choosing dependence over self-reliance, trust over fear, and nearness over distance. In a culture that often glorifies endurance and self-sufficiency, this message stands in contrast: freedom is not found in carrying more, but in releasing everything to God.
In the end, the message confronts its audience with a simple but pressing question: how many โ€œchairsโ€ are still being carried today? And more importantly, what would happen if they were finally laid down in the name of the Lord?

Thereโ€™s something honest and grounding about being reminded that what God has given us is already enough. In her message, โ€œPut Your Spiritual Gifts into Flame,โ€ Sis. Jenny Balanguie brought the church back to that simple truth: spiritual gifts are not something we wait for. They are something we already carry.

Based on 1 Corinthians 12:4โ€“7, the message walked through how these gifts show up in our lives, grouping them into three categories: motivational, ministry, and manifestation gifts. It was not presented as something complicated or distant, but as something very real. It is something we see in people around us, and even in ourselves.

๐™ˆ๐™ค๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ซ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก ๐™‚๐™ž๐™›๐™ฉ๐™จ are often the easiest to recognize because they shape how a person naturally responds. Some people are drawn to serve quietly and wholeheartedly. Others have a way of explaining Scripture that makes sense. There are those who naturally encourage, who give without hesitation, who lead with clarity, or who show deep compassion to people who are hurting. These are not random traits. They reflect how God designed each person to contribute to the body.

๐™ˆ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™ง๐™ฎ ๐™‚๐™ž๐™›๐™ฉ๐™จ are more about calling and responsibility. These include apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Each plays a role in strengthening the church. The example of church planting was especially meaningful, pointing to real people who have stepped out in faith to start and build communities of believers. It is a reminder that ministry is a commitment to serve Godโ€™s people in a specific way.

Then there are the ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™›๐™š๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™ค๐™ง ๐™‹๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™š๐™ง ๐™‚๐™ž๐™›๐™ฉ๐™จ from 1 Corinthians 12:8โ€“10. These are the ones that often feel more extraordinary, like healing, miracles, speaking in tongues, or words of wisdom and knowledge. The message made it clear that these are not meant to impress people. They are meant to help, guide, and strengthen the church when needed. They are practical expressions of Godโ€™s power at work.

One of the strongest points in the message was this: the gifts are already there. Romans 11:29 reminds us that God does not take back what He has given. The issue is not absence. It is often inactivity.

There are real reasons why gifts do not operate. Anchored on Ptr. Myke Moskitoโ€™s powerful message last 2026 Regional Youth Camp, the reasons why gifts do not operate; negligence. People do not use what they have. Other times, it is sin, wrong motives, fear, or even being too distracted by everything else going on in life. The influence of the people around us also matters more than we think. All of these can slowly quiet something that was meant to grow.

The Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14โ€“30 captures this well. The servant who hid his talent did not lose it immediately, but it never grew, and eventually, it was taken away. It was not a lack of ability. It was a lack of action.

That is where the challenge of the message really lands. If the gifts are already in us, then the responsibility is ours. We do not need to wait for the right time or feel completely ready. At some point, we have to start using what God has given.

Leviticus 6:12โ€“13 talks about keeping the fire on the altar burning continuously. It does not stay lit on its own. It has to be maintained. In the same way, our spiritual lives and our gifts need attention. They need to be practiced, protected, and intentionally used.

In the end, the message was not about pressure. It was about awareness. The gifts are not the problem. The question is whether we are willing to use them.

The fire does not need to be created. It only needs to be kept burning.
