Thereโs something honest and grounding about being reminded that what God has given us is already enough. In her message, โPut Your Spiritual Gifts into Flame,โ Sis. Jenny Balanguie brought the church back to that simple truth: spiritual gifts are not something we wait for. They are something we already carry.
Based on 1 Corinthians 12:4โ7, the message walked through how these gifts show up in our lives, grouping them into three categories: motivational, ministry, and manifestation gifts. It was not presented as something complicated or distant, but as something very real. It is something we see in people around us, and even in ourselves.
๐๐ค๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐๐ก ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐จ are often the easiest to recognize because they shape how a person naturally responds. Some people are drawn to serve quietly and wholeheartedly. Others have a way of explaining Scripture that makes sense. There are those who naturally encourage, who give without hesitation, who lead with clarity, or who show deep compassion to people who are hurting. These are not random traits. They reflect how God designed each person to contribute to the body.
๐๐๐ฃ๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ง๐ฎ ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐จ are more about calling and responsibility. These include apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Each plays a role in strengthening the church. The example of church planting was especially meaningful, pointing to real people who have stepped out in faith to start and build communities of believers. It is a reminder that ministry is a commitment to serve Godโs people in a specific way.
Then there are the ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ ๐ค๐ง ๐๐ค๐ฌ๐๐ง ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐จ from 1 Corinthians 12:8โ10. These are the ones that often feel more extraordinary, like healing, miracles, speaking in tongues, or words of wisdom and knowledge. The message made it clear that these are not meant to impress people. They are meant to help, guide, and strengthen the church when needed. They are practical expressions of Godโs power at work.
One of the strongest points in the message was this: the gifts are already there. Romans 11:29 reminds us that God does not take back what He has given. The issue is not absence. It is often inactivity.
There are real reasons why gifts do not operate. Anchored on Ptr. Myke Moskitoโs powerful message last 2026 Regional Youth Camp, the reasons why gifts do not operate; negligence. People do not use what they have. Other times, it is sin, wrong motives, fear, or even being too distracted by everything else going on in life. The influence of the people around us also matters more than we think. All of these can slowly quiet something that was meant to grow.
The Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14โ30 captures this well. The servant who hid his talent did not lose it immediately, but it never grew, and eventually, it was taken away. It was not a lack of ability. It was a lack of action.
That is where the challenge of the message really lands. If the gifts are already in us, then the responsibility is ours. We do not need to wait for the right time or feel completely ready. At some point, we have to start using what God has given.
Leviticus 6:12โ13 talks about keeping the fire on the altar burning continuously. It does not stay lit on its own. It has to be maintained. In the same way, our spiritual lives and our gifts need attention. They need to be practiced, protected, and intentionally used.
In the end, the message was not about pressure. It was about awareness. The gifts are not the problem. The question is whether we are willing to use them.
The fire does not need to be created. It only needs to be kept burning.
