📖 The Ten Lepers (Luke 17:11–19, NLT)
> 11 As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria.
12 As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance,
13 crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy.
15 One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!”
16 He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan.
17 Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine?
18 Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?”
19 And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.”
🌱 Moral Lessons from the Ten Lepers
1. Gratitude matters to God
Ten were healed, but only one returned to thank Jesus. Gratitude is not just good manners—it is worship and acknowledgment of God’s goodness.
2. Faith leads to obedience
Jesus told them to go to the priests before they were healed. Their obedience in faith led to their miracle. Trusting God’s word even when we don’t see results yet is key.
3. God’s blessings are for all people
The thankful l***r was a Samaritan, someone despised by Jews. This shows that God’s mercy and healing are not limited by race, background, or status.
4. Gratitude brings deeper blessing
All ten received physical healing, but only the thankful one received spiritual affirmation: “Your faith has healed you.” Gratitude opens the door to greater spiritual wholeness.
5. Don’t forget the Giver while enjoying the gift
The nine l***rs received their healing and went on, forgetting the One who made it possible. We should never get so caught up in blessings that we forget to honor the Blesser.
"The story teaches us about faith, obedience, gratitude, and the inclusiveness of God’s mercy. True wholeness comes not just from receiving blessings, but from returning to give thanks and glory to God."
