What Defensoris Ecclesie means

After a deeper contemplation on the Organizational Motto, the organization has realized that more than defending the Church in Her faith and morals, it also means defending the people who comprise the Church. It means raising the banners of her principles and defending her moral and social doctrines before the society that has been rejecting her principles for the p

ast decades and centuries. It means defending her philosophy, the view of reality and knowledge that she holds, and the view of how one ought to live. It means defending her tradition as it is continued to be understood and unwrapped until now. It means defending, which the best way is to communicate and create dialogue, through any medium and platform that we can use, her teachings and actions. Yet above all, being Defensoris Ecclesie means defending the wounded, the abandoned, and the lost. Here, in this case, by defending we mean serving as one of the wounded among the wounded, abandoned among the abandoned, lost among the lost. And yet no matter how wounded and lost we are in our human frailty and nakedness we must continue to serve, in charity, our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Our patron Saint Justin Martyr πŸ’ͺ

Justin Martyr came to destroy Christianity.
He was a trained philosopher β€” educated in Stoicism, Aristotelianism, Pythagoreanism, Platonism. He had worked through every major school of thought the ancient world offered and was looking for ultimate truth. Christianity seemed like an obvious target β€” a superstition for the uneducated, a cult built on a crucified criminal.
So he started engaging Christians in debate to expose the weakness of their position.
He couldn't find it.
The more he argued with Christians the more he found something he hadn't expected β€” a coherent worldview, a philosophical depth, a consistency that his pagan education hadn't given him. And then an elderly man he met by the sea pointed him to the Hebrew prophets β€” writings that had predicted Jesus centuries before He was born.
Justin converted around 130 AD.
And then he did something extraordinary. He took all his philosophical training β€” everything he had used to try to attack Christianity β€” and turned it into a weapon of defence.
He wrote formal philosophical defences of Christianity called Apologies β€” addressed directly to Emperor Antoninus Pius and to the Roman Senate. He wasn't writing for Christians. He was writing to the most powerful people in the world, arguing in their own intellectual language that Christianity was not only true but that it was the fulfilment of the best of Greek philosophy.
He established a school of Christian philosophy in Rome.
Around 165 AD he was arrested with six of his students. They were given a simple choice β€” sacrifice to the Roman gods or be executed.
All seven refused.
They were beheaded.
Justin Martyr came to defeat Christianity with his mind. He ended up dying for it instead.

Humility is such a rare virtue to see these days, especially among Catholic Apologists.

This is why the Association of Catholic Apologists (ACA) considers with great importance the character of an individual aspiring to be trained to become an official lecturer for the organization.

The Creed is the summary of all that we believe as Catholics. It unfolds in four great parts: belief in God the Father, in Jesus Christ His Son, in the Holy Spirit and the Church, and in the life to come. In professing the Creed, we echo the faith of the Apostles and the teaching of the Church through the ages.

This is not merely a formula recited at Mass, but a personal adherence to the Catholic faith and a living relationship with God. In professing the Creed, we affirm what the Church, the Fathers and Saints, believes and what we personally accept, trust, and live. Faith is both ecclesial and personal, rooted in the Church, yet embraced by the heart.
