POINTS TO REFLECT:
1. What am I holding onto that makes it difficult to follow Christ more freely?
2. Do I trust that what Jesus offers is greater than what I might have to leave behind?

In today’s Gospel, we encounter a young man who sincerely desires eternal life and is a faithful follower of the commandments of God. However, when he heard Jesus’ response to sell all his possessions, the young man went away sad. In this Gospel, Jesus invites us to something deeper, not just to follow the commandments alone but to give up our attachment in life to be a complete disciple of Christ. Because to be a disciple of Christ requires freedom of heart so that we can give our whole heart to Him.

Today, let us reflect on this question: What am I holding onto that makes it difficult for me to follow Christ more freely? We may hold on to things that make us feel secure, such as money, success, comfort, pride, or even our own plans that lead us into selfishness. These attachments are not always wrong, but they can be an obstacle to trusting Him. Jesus invites us to let go of whatever prevent on loving Him with an undivided love. Although surrendering these things can be difficult. Let us remember, Jesus never ask to give up something without a return; His return is greater than what we give up. He promised that if we give our life to Him wholeheartedly, He will give us a life filled with joy, peace, and the hope of eternal life. When we choose to trust Christ over our fears and attachments, we discover the true freedom that only He can give. Our true treasure is found not in possessions of earthly things but in a life centered on God and expressed in love for others. May we have the courage to place our trust in Him, knowing that He is our greatest treasure. AMEN.

In our Gospel today, we hear the story of a woman who came to Jesus and asked Him to heal her daughter. Even when it seemed that Jesus was not answering her, she did not give up. She continued to ask and trust in Him. Her story reminds us that there are times when our prayers may seem unanswered, but we should never lose hope. Like the woman, we are called to keep praying even when things are difficult. God may not always answer our prayers in the way or at the time we expect, but He never stops caring for us. Sometimes, His silence teaches us to trust Him more. Let us always continue to bring our worries, struggles, and hopes to God with a humble and trusting heart. “When God seems silent, keep praying, He still listening.”

Luke 1:39–56

Mary does not remain focused on herself after receiving God's greatest gift. Instead, she quickly hastens to Elizabeth, carrying Jesus in her womb. Wherever Mary goes, Christ is present, and His presence brings joy, hope, and new life. This is the heart of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary's Assumption is God's response to her faithful and humble "yes." It reminds us that a life lived for God is never wasted and that our true home is in heaven. Like Mary, we are called to carry Christ into our families, workplaces, and communities through simple acts of love, kindness, and service. When we allow Christ to live in us, our words and actions become signs of His presence. In a world that often carries fear, anger, and selfishness, may we choose to carry Christ instead, because when we carry Christ, we carry heaven to others.

Matthew 19:3-12
“Because of the hardness of your hearts”, this was Jesus’ reply to the Pharisees when they asked why Moses allowed a man to divorce his wife. Oftentimes, we say that we entrust ourselves to the loving mercy of God. Yet, when we are tested or received answers to our prayers that differ from what we expect, we tend to insist that what we ask for is justifiable. How are our hearts? Do they still listen to and follow the voice of God? Are they still a dwelling place for Him? Or are they now occupied by our personal inordinate attachments? Consequently, St. Maximilian Kolbe, priest and martyr whose memorial we celebrate today could give us some help. His deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary led him to live a life that was free and always connected to God even to the point of his martyrdom. May our hearts be governed by the grace and will of God, so that all we do, may be offered for the praise and glory of His name. The Lord be adored forever.

My dear friends, how often do you forgive someone who has hurt you? In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches us that forgiveness has no boundaries because God’s mercy is endless. Peter thought that forgiving seven times was enough, but Jesus called him to forgive again and again.

Many of us have been hurt by the words and actions of others, whether by our family, friends, or even those we consider our enemies. Because of our human weakness, we sometimes choose to remain silent, keep our distance, or ignore those who have hurt us instead of forgiving them. But our Lord Jesus reminds us that we should first know and remember how much God has forgiven us despite our sins, weaknesses and failures as His beloved children.

My dear brothers and sisters, let us experience God’s mercy through the Sacrament of Penance, where we truly encounter His boundless mercy and compassion. May we become instruments of His mercy, always ready to forgive others from the heart. The more we receive God’s mercy, the more we are called to share that same mercy with others.
