The HCDC Student Volunteer Catechist Program held its Annual Formation Culmination with the theme "TELEIOS: Committed to be in union with Christ" on July 29, 2024, at the HCDC Campus 7th Floor Function Hall.

The Guest Speaker was Mr. Jose Ma. Imahen, who spoke about the importance of having a relationship with God. He shared that human as we are, it is natural to sometimes feel disconnected from God, especially during times of pain and suffering when we may feel abandoned.

However, he emphasized that God's presence in our lives is not dependent on our moods—God is always with us. Whether we feel happy or sad, God remains and will always remain. Therefore, when we are in pain, let us take it as an opportunity to draw closer to God, to reconnect with Him once again and to allow His presence to bring us comfort and renewal.

The Annual Formation Culmination of the HCDC Student Volunteer Catechist Program emphasized the enduring presence of God in our lives. No matter the challenges we experience or the emotions we feel, we are reminded to remain steadfast in our union with Christ, drawing closer to Him in every circumstances of our life.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | The Student Volunteer Catechist of the Holy Cross of Davao College conducted a re-echo of the Local World Youth Day last January 22, 2024 with the theme; "Mary Arose and Went with Haste".

The event was facilitated by the Student Volunteer Catechist who joined the Local World Youth Day last November 25-26, 2023 at ReMaSe together with their invited guest speaker, the one who lead the exposition of the Holy Eucharist for the adoration, Rev. Junel E. Bustamante. The said re-echo helped the Student Volunteer Catechist to grow in faith and boost their desire to serve the Church. Like Mary who desire to serve, to proclaim her joy, to respond without hesitation by the grace of the Holy Spirit.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | Holy Cross of Davao College's Student Volunteer Catechists Actively Engage at LWYD 2023

In a lively demonstration of faith and eagerness, selected members and officers of the extended program of religious education at Holy Cross of Davao College, known as the Student Volunteer Catechists, participated actively in the Local World Youth Day 2023 (LWYD) from November 25-26 at St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary (REMASE) in Catalunan Grande, Davao City. The event, hosted by the Davao Archdiocesan Youth Coordinating Apostolate (DAYCA), gathered delegates from diverse parishes within the archdiocese, alongside youth groups and students from Ateneo de Davao University, San Pedro College, and Holy Cross of Davao College.

Under the theme "Mary Arose and went with Haste" - Luke 1:39, the two-day gathering featured a range of spiritually enriching activities. The Student Volunteer Catechists actively participated in a moving paraliturgy, showcasing their vibrant faith. The program unfolded with lively animation, dance presentations, and spirited cheers and yells per vicariate, fostering a sense of unity among the participants, including those from different parishes, youth groups, and schools.

The innovative insta tour offered a visual journey through vicariate-collaged parish activities, providing a unique insight into the dynamic youth engagement across the archdiocese. Group sharing sessions facilitated meaningful conversations, and DAYCA Animators led dance animations that added a lively and spirited dimension to the event.

A pivotal moment in the program was the engaging Talk Show featuring World Youth Day Delegates, who shared their impactful experiences and takeaways from Portugal. Another round of group sharing, guided by thought-provoking questions, deepened the connections among participants. The event also provided an opportunity for an intimate encounter with Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D, the Archbishop of Davao, through a question and answer session with parish youth coordinators and vicariate coordinators.

The venue transformed into a culturally rich atmosphere during the socio-cultural night, with vicariates presenting dances from different countries. The night continued with moments of collective praise, worship, Taize, and adoration prayed and reflected alternately by vicariate, creating a spiritually charged ambiance and commitment as youth of the Archdiocese of Davao.

The culmination of LWYD 2023 was marked by a deeply moving Holy Mass, symbolizing the spiritual apex of this unforgettable gathering. The dynamic participation of Holy Cross of Davao College's Student Volunteer Catechists, alongside other enthusiastic participants, contributed to the overall success of LWYD 2023, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts and souls of all who attended.
