Today, we honor the ๐Œ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐‡๐จ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐š๐ฆ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ, a name that brings comfort to the troubled, hope to the weary, and courage to those who find themselves surrounded by the storms of life.

Like a shining star guiding a ship through turbulent seas, Mary continually points us toward her Son, Jesus. When temptations arise, when trials become heavy, or when fear and uncertainty begin to overwhelm our hearts, let us turn our eyes to Mary and lovingly call upon her name.

May the ๐‡๐จ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐š๐ฆ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ always be upon our lips and in our hearts. May she intercede for us, lead us closer to Christ, and accompany us safely through every storm toward the harbor of Godโ€™s love.

Today, we honor Saint Nicholas of Tolentine, O.S.A., the very first canonized member of the Augustinian Order!

Born in response to the devotion of a holy mother and dedicated to God before he was even born, Nicholas kept his purity and innocence throughout his life. He joined the Hermits of St. Augustine, where his dedication to strict penance stood out even among a deeply disciplined community. When superiors expressed concern over his intense fasting, Nicholas simply asked, "๐ป๐‘œ๐‘ค ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘› ๐ผ ๐‘๐‘’ ๐‘ ๐‘Ž๐‘–๐‘‘ ๐‘ก๐‘œ ๐‘“๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘ก, ๐‘คโ„Ž๐‘–๐‘™๐‘’ ๐‘’๐‘ฃ๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘ฆ ๐‘š๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘›๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” ๐‘Ž๐‘ก ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘Ž๐‘™๐‘ก๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ ๐ผ ๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘๐‘’๐‘–๐‘ฃ๐‘’ ๐‘š๐‘ฆ ๐บ๐‘œ๐‘‘?"

He held a deep, compassionate love for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, longing to bring them closer to the Savior. Time and again after celebrating Mass, it was revealed to him that the souls he offered the Sacrifice for were welcomed directly into Godโ€™s presence.

Yet, even while pouring his heart into serving God and others, Nicholas was quietly burdened by a fear of his own unworthiness. With those words, his heart finally found rest, and tradition tells us he was gifted with hearing the heavenly song of angels in the presence of God. He peacefully passed away on September 10, 1310.

Today, we celebrate the birthday of someone very dear to our hearts, ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฎ ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜†, our Mother, our model of faith, and the woman who lovingly said โ€œ๐˜†๐—ฒ๐˜€โ€ to God.

When we think of Mary, we often see her as the ๐— ๐—ผ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜‚๐˜€โ€”gentle, holy, and faithfully standing beside Him through every moment of His life. But today, perhaps we can also remember her simply as a woman who trusted God completely.

Mary did not know everything that was going to happen. She did not know how difficult the journey would become or how many sacrifices her โ€œ๐˜†๐—ฒ๐˜€โ€ would require. She did not know that one day, she would have to watch her beloved Son suffer and die on the Cross. She only knew that God was asking her to trust Him, and she courageously said, โ€œ๐—Ÿ๐—ฒ๐˜ ๐—ถ๐˜ ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—บ๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜๐—ผ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ ๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ.โ€

Today, on Mama Maryโ€™s birthday, perhaps our gift to her does not have to be something grand. Maybe it can simply be a prayer, a promise to be kinder, a decision to forgive, a little more patience with someone we love, a willingness to help someone in need, or simply a sincere prayer from the heart: โ€œ๐—ฌ๐—ฒ๐˜€, ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ. ๐—œ ๐˜๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜ ๐—ฌ๐—ผ๐˜‚.โ€

Because perhaps the greatest way we can honor Mama Mary is by trying, little by little, to live with the same loving, humble, and trusting heart that she had. May her life inspire us to say โ€œ๐˜†๐—ฒ๐˜€โ€ to God each day, to remain faithful amid every trial, and to always lead others closer to her Son, Jesus.
