Exactly 32 years ago, a humble beginning took shape under the name Sovereign Grace Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, pioneered by the late Pastor Teodoro โTeddyโ dela Cerna Badillesโa foundation built on faith, dedication, and purpose. Today, we know it as Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, a testament to how far that church has grown and the lives it continues to touch. โชโจ
In 1995, one year after the church was organized, Pastor Jonah Orongan Badilles was called to serve as pastor, as his father, Pastor Teddy Badilles, continued to plant missions in various parts of the Philippines, driven by a deep passion for missions across different areas of the country.
The Church began with eight founding members. In its early years, it faced many challenges, having no permanent place of worship and moving from one location to another like nomads. Financial resources were virtually nonexistent, and at times, the funds were literally zero.
On July 4, 2007, in a remarkable display of Godโs provision, the Church was blessed with a strategic venue for the work of the Lord in Zabate Village, Bangkal, Davao City, where the Church continues to worship to this dayโclearly showing that even with nothing, God is able to supply everything needed for His purpose.
As the Church continued to grow, God also provided great relief and support to Pastor Jonah Orongan Badilles, especially in the area of preaching, by sharing the responsibility of delivering Godโs Word and helping carry the spiritual load of the church. Pastor Paul Keith Dizon, alongside Pastor Jonah, faithfully labors in the ministry and complements him in shepherding the flock.
From this humble beginning, the Church has also grown into a mission-minded body, now overseeing six missions, namely: Pasig, Madang, Tagbobolo, Naval, Cateel, and Panacanโeach one a living testimony of Godโs continuing faithfulness and expansion of His work.
