And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

A new poll conducted by Jesus shows that only one out of ten healed lepers are thankful. Are we among the ten percent? Do we take the time to express gratitude for all of the good things that Jesus has done and continues to do for us? Gratitude deepens our love for Jesus and guards our hearts against the trappings of pride and selfishness.

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 1 John 5:2 (KJV)

Love for God and love for His people go hand in hand. Why? Because He loves His people. Our love for God will naturally flow into our love for the ones that He loves. But the reverse is equally true. Our love for God’s children will increase our obedience to God and His commands because God’s commands are designed to establish unity and community among His people.

Just like Thomas, we have our moments of doubt. And like Thomas, sometimes the Lord supplies us with the proof that we demand. And sometimes, we must trust by faith. But when we struggle with doubt, Jesus is faithful to answer us, to answer our doubts, and to increase our faith.

He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. Proverbs 25:28 (KJV)

Our behavior cannot save us. But failing to manage our behavior can certainly make it easier for the enemy to turn our minds away from God. When we lack discipline and self-control, we leave ourselves more susceptible to deceit, temptation, and pride. But when we are mindful of our thoughts and actions, we are more prepared to hear God and discern His heart.
