There is no work in this world tougher than motherhood. And yet, most mothers do not get to be “just” mothers. They become everything all at once; provider, teacher, nurse, prayer warrior, safe place, shock absorber, and home.
There is no clock in and clock out. No real day off. No retirement. Even when the children are older, even when they already have lives of their own, a mother’s heart never really stops worrying, hoping, guiding, and praying.
Maybe that is why, in so many ways, a mother’s love gives us a glimpse of the love of Christ. The kind of love that stays. The kind of love that gives more than it is asked. The kind of love that knows us fully, and loves us still. The kind that is truly spelled with L-O-V-E.
A Mother’s love LISTENS — not only to the words we say, but even to the silence we cannot explain.
A Mama’s love OFFERS — sometimes quietly, sometimes with tired hands, but always with a heart that gives without counting the cost.
A Nanay’s love VALUES — seeing the good in us, even during the seasons when we can barely see it in ourselves.
A Mommy’s love EMBRACES — who we were, who we are, and who we are still becoming. It welcomes us home when the world feels too loud, too heavy, or too confusing.
To all mothers, mamas, nanays, mommies, and mother figures: thank you for the love that does not always announce itself, but is always felt.
Thank you for the sacrifices we saw, and even more for the ones we never knew about.
Today, we honor you. We thank God for you. And we pray that the same love you have so freely given returns to you in ways that make your heart feel held, too.
Happy Mother’s Day. 🤍
