The District of Asia Honors Fr. Joseph McLaughlin, SM

The District of Asia held a memorial Mass for Fr. Joseph McLaughlin, SM at the St. Peter Chanel Formation Community. Fr. Joe served as a member of the District for eleven years before returning to his home Province in the United States. The evening was filled with beautiful and candid stories that revealed how deeply he touched the lives of many, especially in Digos and Davao.

We remember him as a confrere, mentor, formator, friend, smiling priest, and Marist missionary—one who brought Mary’s gentle presence into every encounter. May he now rest in God’s assuring peace, embraced by the loving presence of Mary.

It is with great sorrow that we received the news of the passing of Fr. Joseph (Joe) McLaughlin, SM. Fr. Joe was a Marist missionary who served in Digos and Davao, particularly in Agdao and Sta. Ana, where he worked for a number of years as a formator. He was deeply loved by many for his warmth, generosity, and charismatic personality. In 2009, he returned to the United States of America to join his home province.
May Fr. Joe rest in peace, a faithful servant of God.
