Tonight was fun-filled and educational for the . Thank you, for the yummy carbonara. πŸ€€πŸ˜‹πŸ‘
We had 2 drawing activities to demonstrate how creative our thoughts could be, that if we are not careful, they can lead us to sinning and living in a downward spiral. Sadly, some succumbed to self-harm and suicidal ideation.
Tito Arthur’s scripture for the night is from Prov 4:23 (GNT), β€œBe careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.”
Everything is conceived in our minds. And our thoughts (cognitions) affect our feelings (emotions) which in turn affect our actions (behaviors).
There maybe times that we can’t help negative thoughts to flood thru our minds. But the Bible says we need to take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ (2 Cor 10:5). Here are some of the practical and coping ways on doing it:
- Positive Self-Talk (like King David - β€œWhy are you so downcast, O my soul…)
- Challenge your thoughts (based on God’s truth)
- Solution-Focused (you can never undo the past, focus on the brighter future ahead, the plan and future that God promised in Jeremiah 29:11. The more you can envision ur future, the more it becomes achievable for u. And as we envision our future, we need to include God in the picture.)
Curious about what their dreams are and how they envision their future selves? Ask them, spend time with them and learn from them, and encourage them, and guide them.
This is to raising a spiritually emotionally healthy .
Bringing back all the glory and praises to God. πŸ™πŸ™

Last Thurs was the second MCM which was again led by Ken Shedrick Abalayan. Shout out to for joining us for the first time, and for bringing his friend, Sam. Ken’s friends, Tij & Deo were also there. We were also joined by a campus disciple from QC, Jethro. πŸ₯³πŸ™Œ humabol din c Shiloh. πŸ₯³πŸ’

Ken’s short lesson was about navigating peer pressure. He shared that we don’t necessarily cut ties with our non-christian friends, but we should choose our inner circle whose influences help us to be right with God. And for us to stand against peer pressure, we should:
1. Firmly say β€œNo” to wordly passions and desires
2. Offer options or alternatives on how to hv clean fun or better ways on doing things
3. Walk away, if necessary
They agreed that it may be hard to walk away from friendships and relationships, but as Jethro shared, our β€œNo” to the world is a β€œYes” to God.

I can’t help but be amazed by how God is growing and maturing these young fellas. And to Him be all the glory. πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Yesterday we’re at People’s Park and had a great conversation about the Bible with Jai and Shai, two Grade 12 HUMSS students from City High. shared Matthew 11:28-29, which talks about finding rest in Jesus. They were surprised but grateful that we took the time to approach them and share God’s Word.

During our discussion, they realized how important it is to surround themselves with people who have a strong faith in God. We invited them to join our Church Worship this Sunday.πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

We praise God for this first ever MCM bible talk led by an academic achiever (President’s List), Ken Shedrick Abalayan. πŸ₯³πŸŽˆπŸ™Œ
Ken shared about trusting God in uncertain times. And that the reason why we find it hard to trust God is because of fear and the desire to be in control. Ken also reminded us that uncertainties are actually opportunities to trust God and His plans for us. That if life is like driving a car where the gear stick is set to fear, we should then intentionally shift it to faith, so we can move forward peacefully and safely. As mentioned in Proverbs 3:5-6, [5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; [6] in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Trusting God and not on our own understanding is indeed the best way to navigate the uncertainties in this life.

Thank you, Ken, for the yummy treat, and to ur MCM friends and classmates β€” DJ, Maxene, and Maria β€” for joining us in today’s bible talk. πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ₯³πŸ₯³ we hope to see them again on the next one. πŸ™πŸ™

This week God has blessed us with 3 bible talks. πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™πŸ™

Last Tuesday Kohl Ree reminded us to seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness. We shared from our pasts how we set aside God and tried to chase other priorities, dreams, and relationships β€” to no avail that even left us feeling devalued. We altogether learned that our true value is built by seeking first His kingdom, His kingship over our lives.

In today’s bible talks which were both led by reminded us about the compelling invitation from Jesus to come to him, to take his yoke upon us, and learn from him. For his yoke is easya nd his burden is light. And by responding to Jesus’ invitation, we can find rest for our soul. This invitation is not just for few but for ALL who are weary and burdened.

Shout out to for joining us last Tuesday. πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™πŸ™ Grateful to hv the nursing students who regularly attend our weekly UM Matina bible talks. πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’We are also blessed to hv met new friends β€” , , β€” who are so open to God’s word. According to them, they are actually looking for a bible study group who can help them in their spiritual walk. They said they will bring their friends to join with them on our next sessions.πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™πŸ™

To God alone be all the praises and glory.
