Is Christ optional for a human soul? Is Christ just a part of our basic, essential needs? Is Christ just a means to a healthy and prosperous life? If you think that He is just a part of what you need, then you'll have to read this because maybe your precious soul is at stake. For more than 2000 years, redeemed people of Christ have been willing to give up everything for Christ; for them, there is no earthly treasure so valuable than belonging to their Great Savior. Following Christ cost them their earthly wealth, their peaceful lives, their status in society, and even their own lives. Until today, His saints are continually suffering together as a church bearing the marks of Christ and consistently being persecuted by this fallen world.
What then is the root of this great love that they have for Christ? The answer can only be found by the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
A Christian did not become a Christian because they loved Christ and pursued piety, but because God, in His love, sent His Son to die for us despite of our great rebellion against the One True King. We love because God has first loved us. A love so amazing and divine that it is perceived as foolishness to the unbelieving eyes. This is the love that compels us Christians to really treasure Christ and that made Christ sit on the throne of our hearts.
You are a sinner; you are a part of this great rebellion to God Most High. You are a liar, blasphemer, thief, self-centered, and idolater, and the list goes on as fast as you draw air. No man is righteous, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and therefore all deserve eternal hell, for we have grieved the Eternal God. But this is the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Christ came down and adapted the nature of man, lived a perfect life and obeyed the Father and has shown perfect obedience and yet persecuted, suffered, and was nailed to the cross, paying for the sins of His people, and resurrected on the third day showing His power and proving that what He said is true. If you turn away from your sins and wholeheartedly trust Christ, you will be declared innocent and righteous. I beseech you, reader, not to waste this precious soul of yours. Work's cannot save us; work's cannot make us good, and the more you think that it is, the more you are heaping wrath on yourself. Repent! and Believe! in Christ the given Lamb as an offering, treasure Him and make Him your greatest delight, and make Him rule in your heart.
