FEAST OF ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER
May 1, 2026

Today, we celebrate the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker. The 6:00 a.m. Holy Mass was led by our Parish Priest concelebrated by Fr. Ronald Lacapag, this celebration was attended by parishioners from different Zones. The celebration focused on the value of work and the important role of workers, especially those involved in the parish construction.

In his homily, the Parish Priest shared the message of the “3D’s” — Distansya, Diskanso, and Dayeg. He explained that we should stay away from sin, take time to rest in God, and always give praise in our daily lives. During the Mass, a special blessing was given to the construction workers, as well as their tools, equipment, and materials. This reminded everyone to appreciate hard work and to offer all their efforts to God with faith and gratitude.

“JESUS SAID TO NICODEMUS/NICODEMO, ‘FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY-BEGOTTEN SON, SO THAT EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM MIGHT NOT PERISH BUT MIGHT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” (John 3:16-21)

Nicodemus/ Nicodemo was 1st-century Jewish Pharisee & a member of the Sanhedrin (ruling council) who became a secret follower of Jesus. He was best known for visiting Jesus at night to discuss spiritual rebirth. Later, he helped Joseph of Arimathea bury Jesus (Google).

Easter faith is to be sought aside from being given gratuitously to us by God’s mercy & love.

Nicodemo gives us an example of inquiring about Jesus’ teachings in order to find the truth. He receives Jesus’ explanation about being "born again" to see the kingdom of God.

Nicodemo defends Jesus by questioning his colleagues, asking if their law allowed judging a man without a hearing.

Nicodemo w/out hesitation publicly associates himself w/ Jesus. He brings a massive, costly amount of spices (about 75 pounds of myrrh & aloes) to prepare the Jesus’ body for burial.

Living the faith of easter requires a choice.

Optimus Prime (from the movie Transformers) once said, “Fate comes to us at the moment of our choosing.”

Truly, our choices determine the manner & the disposition of our lives while at the same time the grace of God guiding us to a life of peace, happiness & of being saved.

Easter people choose Jesus. Nicodemo is one of the exemplary example.

Are we for Jesus, like Nicodemo or do we say “Di Ko Nimo!?”

Let us choose Jesus. After all, He chose us first when He chose, out of love, to die on the cross.
