On this Feast of the Guardian Angels, we gratefully celebrate the 44th Founding Anniversary of the Alexian Brothers Philippine Mission.

The Alexian Brothers in the Philippines Sub-Unit, together with the Dalangpanan ni San Alejo, extends our deepest gratitude to Bonhoc Demerin Associates CPAs for their generous partnership in feeding our itinerant street dwellers today, September 17, and last September 15, in line with your 8th Founding Anniversary.

Your compassion and commitment to serve reflect not only your dedication to excellence in your profession but also your genuine concern for the most vulnerable in our society. Through your kindness, our brothers and sisters in the streets have not only been nourished with food but also uplifted with dignity, hope, and love.

As you celebrate your 8th year, may the Lord continue to bless your firm with success, harmony, and abundance so that you may keep touching lives and inspiring others by your example.

Today, we stand at the threshold of a milestone, a quarter of a century of healing, service, and compassion. Twenty-five years ago, on August 16, 2000, the groundbreaking of the Alexian Brothers Health and Wellness Center began with faith as its cornerstone and hope as its blueprint. A year later, on August 16, 2001, the doors opened, welcoming those in need of care, comfort, and dignity.

We owe this enduring legacy to the vision and courage of our founders: Brother John of God Oblina, CFA , and the late Brothers Maurice Wilson, CFA and Dominic Andes, CFA - who, inspired by the Charism of the Alexian Brothers, envisioned a sanctuary where healing would be more than a medical service; it would be a ministry of love. Their lives remind us that when hearts are moved by compassion, God’s work is made visible in the world.

To the countless employees who have served through the years, you are the heartbeat of this mission. Your dedication, often unseen but deeply felt, has carried the Alexian Spirit into every patient’s room, every smile, every act of kindness. To the doctors who became our Partners in mMnistry for these past 24 years, you have stood with us in the sacred work of restoring health and hope, blending skill with empathy in the service of life.

And to all who, in big ways and small, have supported this mission: benefactors, volunteers, friends, and families, you are part of this care woven over two and a half decades. Your faith in our mission is the wind that continues to move us forward.

The theme of our celebration, “Take me to the Alexian Brothers,” is not just a slogan, it is a prayer, a longing for a place where the sick are tended with compassion, the weary are welcomed with warmth, and every person is treated with dignity as a child of God.

As we look back with gratitude, we also look ahead with renewed purpose. May the next 25 years be marked by the same spirit that began it all - faith in God, love for our neighbor, and steadfast service to those most in need.

To God be the glory, to the Alexian Brothers be our deepest gratitude, and to all of you - thank you for being part of this journey of healing and hope.

The Alexian Brothers joyfully gathered to celebrate the Feast of Saint Alexius, Patron Saint of the Congregation. This year’s celebration was made even more meaningful with the Perpetual Profession of Religious Vows of Brother Anthony Abastillas, CFA.

Brother Anthony, a native of the Archdiocese of Jaro in Iloilo, served as a secondary school teacher for 15 years at Colegio de la Immaculada Concepcion in Pototan, Iloilo. He entered Postulancy in 2018, Novitiate in 2019—choosing St. Anthony de Padua as his patron saint—and professed his First Vows in 2021.

He is the second child of the late Edgar Abastillas and Luzviminda Abastillas, both from Iloilo City. His Perpetual Profession marks a sacred and lifelong commitment to serve God and humanity through the Alexian Brothers' charism of healing and compassion.

The Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by His Excellency Medil Aseo, D.D., Bishop of Tagum, highlighted the depth of Brother Anthony’s vocation and the joy of the Alexian community. As we reflected on the life of Saint Alexius, we were reminded of the enduring call to serve the poor, the sick, and the marginalized—a mission the Alexian Brothers have faithfully carried out for over 800 years, and for 42 years here in Davao City.

May the intercession of Saint Alexius continue to guide Brother Anthony in his journey of faith, service, and love.

Today, we thank God for another meaningful Beghards’ Feast held in honor of St. Alexius, the Patron Saint of the Alexian Brothers, celebrated every July 17.

Now on its 3rd year, this tradition continues to remind us of the heart of our mission: to serve Christ in the poor and the marginalized. This year, 50 Itinerant Street Dwellers joined us in a feast of food, prayer, and community at the Dalangpanan ni San Alejo here in Davao City.

The term “Beghards” pays homage to a group of lay religious men in the Middle Ages who lived in simplicity and served the sick and poor, much like St. Alexius himself, who gave up riches to walk in solidarity with the homeless and forgotten.

To all our brothers and sisters who joined us today: you are seen, you are loved, and you are always welcome here.

Let us continue to walk together in faith, hope, and love.
