THE HOLY PENTECOST FEAST
June 8, 2025

As mother church celebrates 🥳 the Holy Pentecost, it also celebrates it's birthday 🎂. It was on the day of pentecost when the church was established under the leadership of St. Peter.
What lessons do we learn from this special day. It's a day when they received the Holy Spirit. As Christians what does the Holy Spirit do in our lives?
1. It helps us to love one another
2. It helps us to have joy in every circumstances
3. It helps us to have peace within ourselves and with others
4. It helps us to be patient in everything
5. It helps us to be kind to one another
6. It helps us to be faithful in everything even in small things
7. It helps us to have self control
8. Above everything it helps us to pray and discern on what is right and wrong
All the above can only be achieved by the grace of God and when we allow him to be in our hearts 💕 💞 ♥️ ❤️ 💙 💓. Come Holy Spirit and fill the world

𝐇𝐈𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐂𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐂𝐇

The Catholic Church has a strong emphasis on hierarchy (levels of leadership). The term "hierarchy" strictly means the "holy ordering" of the Church, the Body of Christ, so to respect the diversity of gifts and ministries necessary for genuine unity (1 Cor 12 )

𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐓𝐘: Members of the laity belong to the same religion and reap the same benefits through living life of faith and devotions as do members of the clergy.

𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐎𝐍: A transitional deacon is a seminarian studying for the priesthood. A permanent deacon can be married and assists a priest by performing some of the sacraments.

𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒𝐓: An ordained minister who can administer most of the sacraments, including the Eucharist, baptism, and marriage. He can be with a particular religious order or committed to serving a congregation.

𝐁𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐏: A bishop, like a priest, is ordained to this station. He is a teacher of church doctrine, a priest of sacred worship, and a minister of church government. The U.S. has 290 active bishops, 194 head dioceses.

𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇𝐁𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐏: An archbishop is a bishop of a main or metropolitan diocese, also called an archdiocese. A cardinal can concurrently hold the title. The U.S. has 45 archbishops.

𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋: Appointed by the pope, 178 cardinals worldwide, including 13 in the U.S., make up the College of Cardinals. As a body, it advises the pope and, on his death, elects a new pope.

𝐏𝐎𝐏𝐄: Head of the church, he is based at the Vatican. The pope is infallible in defining matters of faith and morals. Known as the successor of St. Peter which has as a special authoritative role in the Church founded by Christ.

Above all is 𝐆𝐨𝐝, the supreme being. He is the one and only Being in the sense that He is the sole creator or source of all that really exists.

Expectation:

It is expected that the canonization will be one of the first important acts of the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV.

Miracles:

Carlo Acutis was recognized for two miracles: the healing of a boy in Brazil in 2010, and the healing of a young woman in Costa Rica.

Carlo Acutis and Our Lady of Fatima have a fascinating connection. Carlo Acutis was a young Catholic blessed who was known for his devotion to the Eucharist and the Virgin Mary. He was particularly devoted to Our Lady of Fatima and often prayed the Rosary.

Carlo Acutis was born in 1991 and passed away in 2006 due to leukemia. He was known for his strong faith, his love for the poor, and his use of technology to spread the Gospel. In 2020, he became the first millennial to be beatified by the Catholic Church.

The apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, which took place in 1917 in Fatima, Portugal, are famous for their prophecies and messages of prayer, conversion, and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Many Catholics, including Carlo Acutis, have been inspired by these apparitions and have prayed for the conversion of sinners and for peace in the world.

Carlo Acutis's devotion to Our Lady of Fatima reflects his deep love for Mary and his desire to follow her example of humility, prayer, and service to others.

The Story of Our Lady of Fatima

Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three Portuguese children–Francisco and Jacinta Marto and their cousin Lucia dos Santos–received apparitions of Our Lady at Cova da Iria near Fatima, a city 110 miles north of Lisbon. Mary asked the children to pray the rosary for world peace, for the end of World War I, for sinners, and for the conversion of Russia.

Mary gave the children three secrets. Following the deaths of Francisco and Jacinta in 1919 and 1920 respectively, Lucia revealed the first secret in 1927. It concerned devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The second secret was a vision of hell. When Lucia grew up she became a Carmelite nun and died in 2005 at the age of 97.

Pope John Paul II directed the Holy See’s Secretary of State to reveal the third secret in 2000; it spoke of a “bishop in white” who was shot by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows into him. Many people linked this vision to the assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II in St. Peter’s Square on May 13, 1981.

The feast of Our Lady of Fatima was approved by the local bishop in 1930; it was added to the Church’s worldwide calendar in 2002.

Reflection

The message of Fatima is simple: Pray. Unfortunately, some people—not Sister Lucia—have distorted these revelations, making them into an apocalyptic event for which they are now the only reliable interpreters. They have, for example, claimed that Mary’s request that the world be consecrated to her has been ignored. Sister Lucia agreed that Pope John Paul II’s public consecration in St. Peter’s Square on March 25, 1984, fulfilled Mary’s request. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith prepared a June 26, 2000, document explaining the “third secret.”

Mary is perfectly honored when people generously imitate her response “Let it be done to me as you say” (Luke 1:38). Mary can never be seen as a rival to Jesus or to the Church’s teaching authority, as exercised by the college of bishops united with the bishop of Rome.
