“The Dangers of Seeking Man’s Approval”
Galatians 1:10

You can look like you follow Christ,
and still be controlled by people.

When approval matters more than obedience,
truth gets compromised, and the gospel gets diluted.

The Churches in Galatia didn’t reject Christ overnight; they drifted because they feared man.

And so can we.

If you live for people’s approval, you cannot live as a servant of Christ.

Who are you really trying to please? People or Christ?

Join us tomorrow at 2:30pm

We live in a world that believes more is always better. More money. More strength. More resources. More people.

But in Judges 7, God looks at Gideon’s army and says something shocking: “Too many.”

Why? Because the greatest danger was not the enemy army.

> The greatest danger was Human Pride.

God reduced 32,000 soldiers to 300 men so that when victory came, Israel could never say,
“My own hand has saved me.”

This is how God works:

He sometimes removes what we rely on… so we will learn to rely on Him alone.

Ultimately, this story points us to the gospel itself, where salvation is not by human strength or works. But it is by God's grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

Join us this Sunday as we open Judges 7 and discover why sometimes the most powerful words God can say are: “Too many.”

Salvation has never been produced by human strength. Not by charisma. Not by strategy. Not by numbers. But by the Spirit of God.

You don’t need a strong leader in the church. You need the Spirit of God that enables the leaders in the church.

> Because the church is not revived by powerful personalities, but by the powerful presence of the Spirit of God.

- “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the LORD.

Join us as we open Judges 6:33–40 and discover what true spiritual revival looks like for God's people: Less of us, More of God.

What altar is still standing in your house?

Not made of wood. Made of desire.

> .Personal idols.
> .Family idols.
> .Community idols.

Success. Comfort. Approval. Control. Pleasure.

We don’t carve statues anymore, we carve priorities.

God told Gideon to tear down the idol at home first.

Revival doesn’t begin in the crowd. It begins in demolition.

If Christ is Lord, no rival gets to stand.

Come. Examine the altar of your heart. And if it isn’t Christ, then destroy it.

Last week, we saw that spiritual revival begins when God disciplines His people. When Israel persisted in sin, the LORD brought them very low. Their false securities were stripped away. Then God sent His Word to confront their disobedience.

This week, we continue in Judges 6:11–32 and see something even more tender: the same God who disciplines His people also reveals Himself to them. He comes near. He declares His presence. He speaks peace. And He calls His people back—not merely to safety, but to restored fellowship and obedience.

Revival is not just about being corrected.
It is about a restored relationship with God.

Join us as we see how God restores His people by revealing His abiding presence, tearing down idols, and calling them to trust Him alone.

Ready for His Appearing
Luke 12:34–40

Main Idea: True Christians are always ready for the coming of Christ, because they love His appearing.

Our passage last night from the gospel according to Luke, our Lord Jesus Christ calls His disciples to live in constant readiness for His appearing. And He makes something very clear: readiness is not about predicting a date, it is about the condition of your heart.

Jesus used a parable to emphasize on how His true disciples prepare for his coming:

> 1. BE READY BY TREASURING CHRIST ABOVE ALL(v34)

“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Your treasure controls your heart. And your heart controls your readiness.

What you protect. What you fear losing. What you constantly think about. That is your treasure.

- If your treasure is comfort, your heart will cling to this world.
- If your treasure is success, your heart will be anchored here.
- If Christ is your treasure, your heart will be drawn upward.

The final chapter of Revelation closes with this promise:

“Surely I am coming soon.”
“Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!” (22:20)

Only those who treasure Him above all can sincerely pray that.

> > ASK YOURSELF:
What would devastate you more: losing earthly security, or losing intimacy with Christ? That answer reveals your treasure.

Read and continue to meditate on Luke 12:34-40:

> 2. BE READY BY LIVING FAITHFULLY FOR CHRIST(v35)

“Stay dressed for action.” Readiness looks like steady holiness, ongoing repentance, and daily obedience. Those who hope in His appearing purify themselves (1 John 3:2–3).

> 3. BE READY BY EAGERLY WAITING FOR CHRIST(v36-38)

We do not merely wait; we long. Just as the servants wait for their master with eagerness. The Apostle Paul says a crown awaits those who love His appearing (2 Timothy 4:8). Affection fuels vigilance.

> 4. BE READY BY LIVING AS THOUGH CHRIST COULD COME TODAY(v39-40)

No hidden sin. No delayed obedience. No divided loyalty. We stay awake because we do not know the hour.

Real Prosperity
Psalm 1:3

📖“He is like a tree planted by streams of water that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does he prospers.”

Psalm 1 does not define prosperity the way the world does. The blessed man prospers, not in fame, not in comfort, not necessarily in wealth, but in righteousness. To prosper in Psalm 1 is to succeed in living a righteous life.

𝐇𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬:

→ He does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.
→ He does not stand in the way of sinners.
→ He does not sit in the seat of the scornful.

Instead, he delights in the law of the LORD and meditates on it day and night.

His prosperity is seen in his separation from ungodly counsel and his devotion to God’s Word. He prospers because he is planted by the streams of Scripture. The Word nourishes his thinking, shapes his decisions, guards his heart, and steadies him in every season.

Again, to prosper in Psalm 1 is to succeed in living a righteous life. It is to endure temptation, resist compromise, and remain fruitful in obedience.

This kind of prosperity may not always be visible to the world, but it is unmistakable before God.

📌 "𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲; 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝, 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭."

As Scripture says, “𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑒, 𝑎𝑠 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑒𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑑 𝐶ℎ𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑡 𝐽𝑒𝑠𝑢𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐿𝑜𝑟𝑑, 𝑠𝑜 𝑤𝑎𝑙𝑘 𝑖𝑛 ℎ𝑖𝑚, 𝑟𝑜𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑏𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑡 𝑢𝑝 𝑖𝑛 ℎ𝑖𝑚 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑖𝑠ℎ𝑒𝑑 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑎𝑖𝑡ℎ” (Colossians 2:6–7).

The tree of Psalm 1 ultimately finds its life in Christ. We are not merely rooted in principles, but in a Person. Our stability, fruitfulness, and endurance flow from union with Him.

To prosper, then, is to continue walking in Christ, drawing daily nourishment from His Word, and remaining firmly planted in Him.

True prosperity is Christ-centred, Word-shaped, and eternally secure.

Guard Your Delight
Psalm 1:1–2

> Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

Psalm 1 opens with a warning before it offers a blessing. Verse 1 shows us that the loss of delight in God’s Word happens progressively.

> First, we walk in the counsel of the wicked.
We begin by listening. We walk by listening to the world’s mindset, its counsel.

We allow ungodly ideas and ambition to shape how we think about life, success, and obedience.

Nothing seems wrong yet; we’re just “considering other perspectives.”

> Second, we stand in the way of sinners.
We then stand by adopting its patterns, its way of life. What we once merely heard(counsel) now becomes familiar.

We dwell in it. Patterns form. Sin no longer feels as serious, and obedience no longer feels urgent.

> Finally, we sit in the seat of scoffers.
The posture becomes settled. We sit by settling into its system. Its seat of belonging and identity.

Reverence for God's Word fades. God’s Word is no longer treasured; it is questioned, minimized, or quietly dismissed.

What begins as exposure becomes conformity, and what becomes conformity eventually shapes who we are.

This is how compromise happens, not suddenly, but gradually, as the world’s thinking, living, and values quietly replace our delight in God’s Word.

Whose Counsel Are You Listening To?

Psalm 1
> "Blessed is the man, who walks not in the counsel of the wicked...But his delight is in the law of the LORD."

Every day, we are surrounded by counsel.

Friends give advice. Workmates share opinions. Social media pushes narratives. Ads tell us what we need, what we deserve, and who we should become. None of us lives without counsel. The only question is whose voice we allow to shape us.

Psalm 1 opens the Psalms by drawing a clear line. The blessed person does not walk in the counsel of the wicked. Instead, he delights in the law of the LORD, and he meditates on it day and night. That word meditate means God’s Word is not just heard, it is memorized, rehearsed, weighed, and allowed to sink deep into our hearts.

The world never stops talking. It counsels us constantly on how to think, what to fear, and what to chase. But Psalm 1 reminds us that there is only one counsel that gives life, stability, and fruitfulness: the Word of God. All other counsel must be tested and judged by it.

If we do not intentionally listen to God’s counsel, we will automatically absorb the world’s. There is no neutral ground.

So the question is: "Whose counsel is shaping your heart today? Is it the world? Or the LORD?"

Application:

- Read God’s Word daily and place yourself under His counsel.
- Meditate on it—turn it over in your mind throughout the day.
- Pray according to it—let God’s Word shape your desires, not just your thoughts.
