Understanding stewardship means understanding the roles of being stewards. When we say steward, it is important to keep in mind that ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ ๐๐ข ๐ก๐ข๐ง ๐ข๐ช๐ก ๐ช๐๐๐ง ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ ๐ฃ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ which you are only meant to take care of. Second, the ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ of stewards is to manage whatever is entrusted to your care. And lastly, stewards although are given authority over things, we are not our own lords; rather, we are responsible to God who is the Supreme ruler of all. This means that stewardship demands ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ป๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐.
Now, try to ask yourself, What do you have?
What are the things that God has given and entrusted to you? We are not certainly called to be stewards of something we do not have.
Time, skills, abilities, material possessions, economic stability, sociopolitical position, social status, educational attainment, or whatever we have are all given to us by God to serve His purposes. We don't own it, but we're granted the authority to govern it. Our responsibility resides in how we use the gifts God has given us. We should cultivate and use them for His glory. Consider that we are accountable to the giver in what he has entrusted to us. If we do the right action, we are rewarded; if we fail, we will face appropriate punishment. (Matthew 25:14-30).
Are we managing Godโs gifts faithfully, or wasting them selfishly?
