As we gather before dawn, we begin this sacred nine day journey of faith, hope, and joyful expectation. In the quiet of the morning, we offer our prayers, sacrifices, and thanksgiving to the Lord, preparing our hearts for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

May this first day of Misa de Gallo renew our spirit, strengthen our faith, and remind us of the true meaning of Christmas, God’s love made present among us. Let every sunrise draw us closer to Him as we walk together in prayer and devotion

For todays Gospel (Luke 18:9-14), Jesus shows us that what matters most is our heart before God, not how impressive our works may look.

Rev. Fr. Caryl explained the gospel that the religious expectations is upside-down, the one society deems “spiritual” may not be accepted; the one seen as “sinner” may be justified. It reminded us that may we go to God not trusting in our own righteousness, but trusting in Him and may our hearts be humble both toward God and toward our neighbours.

If you lift yourself up, you’ll be brought down. If you lower yourself, you’ll be raised up. In the realm of God, humility equals honour and pride equals vulnerability.

As part of our National Call to Prayer and Public Repentance, we are encouraged to wear white every Sunday throughout October and November. This act of unity is a heartfelt expression of our faith as we seek God’s mercy and healing for our land, especially in light of the recent calamities such as typhoons,fires, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes that have affected many communities.

Let our white garments be a visible sign of our spiritual renewal and a collective plea for God’s mercy. Together, let us pray that the Lord restores our land and transforms us into vessels of peace and righteousness.

Daghan kaayo sa atong panahon ang mangayo og tabang ug panalangin sa Ginoo. Sa panahon sa kalisdanan, sakit, o problema, dali kaayo nato Siya duolon ug hangyoon nga motabang ug moluwas kanato. Apan, human kita tabangan ug hatagan og kaluwasan, pipila ra gayud ang mobalik aron magpasalamat ug mosimba kaniya.

Sama sa nahitabo kang Naaman sa Balaang Kasulatan, nga nakasinati sa milagro tungod sa iyang pagtuo, unta kita usab makakat-on nga magpasalamat ug moila nga ang tanan nga kaayohan ug kaluwasan nga atong nadawat gikan lamang sa Ginoo. Dili lang unta kita mangayo kung adunay panginahanglan, apan magpadayon usab kita sa pagpasalamat bisan sa mga panahon nga maayo ang dagan sa atong kinabuhi.

Ang pagpasalamat usa ka pamaagi sa pag-ila nga ang Ginoo mao ang tinubdan sa tanang grasya, sa kalipay, ug sa kalinaw. Busa, sama ni Naaman, hinaut nga makasulti usab kita sa tinuod nga kasingkasing, “Salamat, Ginoo, ikaw lamang ang akong Dios.”

Dayon mikanaog si Naaman ug miligo sa suba sa Jordan sa pito ka higayon, sumala sa gisulti sa tawo sa Dios. Ug ang iyang panit nahimo nga sama sa panit sa usa ka bata, ug siya nahinlo.
Mibalik siya ngadto sa tawo sa Dios uban ang iyang kauban, ug mitindog sa atubangan niya ug miingon:
“Karun nasayud ako nga walay lain nga Dios sa tibook kalibutan gawas sa Dios sa Israel. Palihog, dawata kining halad gikan sa imong alagad.”
Apan miingon si Eliseo: “Buhing Ginoo nga akong gialagaran, dili ako modawat.” Bisan pa siya gipugos ni Naaman, wala gihapon siya modawat.
Busa miingon si Naaman: “Kung mao kana, tugoti na lang ko nga magdala ug duha ka kahayopan nga mutangag yuta gikan dinhi, kay gikan karon, dili na ako maghalad o mag-alsa ug halad ngadto sa uban nga mga dios, kondili ngadto ra sa Ginoo.”

“ 𝐖𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀 𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐓-𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐑𝐓 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘 “

In recent days, our nation has faced a series of devastating calamities such as typhoons, volcanic eruptions, fires, and earthquakes one after another. In these trying times, we turn to the Lord and plead for His mercy upon our people.
We once again invite everyone to return to God with humble and repentant hearts. Let us renew our commitment to the National Call to Prayer and Public Repentance, observing it every Sunday and, whenever possible, every day until the Solemnity of Christ the King, accompanied by the tolling of church bells. May this serve as our collective Miserere a heartfelt cry for mercy, forgiveness, and renewal as a nation.

As the psalmist prays:
"Cleanse me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." (Psalm 51:9, 12)

Let us ask the Lord to renew our nation and make each of us instruments of His justice, peace, and mercy.
