Jesus Is Greater Than Moses

1. Christ Is Greater Than Moses
(Hebrews 3:1–6)
Moses — servant in God’s house
Jesus Christ — Son over God’s house
Moses was faithful as a servant, but Jesus is greater because He is the Son and the builder.
We belong to His house if we hold firmly to our faith and hope.
Do not become merely religious—focus on Christ.

2. Allow the Holy Spirit to Move
(Hebrews 3:7–19)
A. Do not harden your heart
B. Do not test God
(Deuteronomy 6:16)
C. Do not have an unbelieving heart
(Hebrews 3:12)
If you resist God’s voice, your heart becomes hardened and you miss His rest.

3. Encourage One Another Daily
(Hebrews 3:13)
Encourage each other so no one is deceived by sin.
Church life includes:
Teaching
Preaching
Discipleship
Doctrine
Worship
Fellowship
Prayer

4. Obey Jesus — Our Apostle and High Priest
(Acts 5:29, John 14:15)
Obey God above all
Love Jesus by keeping His commands

THE MOTIVE OF THE HEART

Jeremiah 17:9 (ESV)
“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”
A deceitful heart is dishonest, crooked, and wicked. It can deceive both yourself and others.

John 2:24-25 (NLT)
“But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew human nature.”

PART I: Characters of a Deceitful Heart

Masquerading – pretending to be righteous
(2 Corinthians 11:14-15)

Lying Tongue – speaking deceit and destruction
(Psalm 52:2)

Manipulating / Controlling – taking advantage of others
(Galatians 2:4)

Hateful / Bitter – hiding hatred behind kind words
(Proverbs 26:24-25)

Flickering and Unstable – divided loyalty and wavering faith
(James 1:6-7; Acts 5:3)

Perversion – turning away from God’s design
(Mark 7:21-23)

Betrayal / Traitor – like Judas betraying Jesus for money
(Matthew 26:14-16; John 13:27)

SATAN THE DECEIVER

Revelation 12:9 (NLT)
“Satan, the one deceiving the whole world.”
John 8:44 (NLT)

“He is a liar and the father of lies.”

PART II: Freedom from a Deceitful Heart

The Word of God cleanses us
(John 15:3)
The Truth sets us free
(John 8:32)
God sanctifies us through His truth
(John 17:17)
The Holy Spirit reveals truth and discernment
(1 Corinthians 2:10)

God gives a new heart and new spirit
(Ezekiel 36:26)

The Importance and the Covering Under Leadership

God is a God of order, not confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). Because of this, He establishes leadership to guide His people in peace, growth, and unity. Leadership is not about control, but about serving, guiding, and helping others grow in their faith.

1. The Importance of Leadership

A. Leadership Requires a Servant Heart
True leadership is rooted in humility and service. Jesus showed that greatness comes from serving others, not being above them. Leaders care for people, not control them.

B. Leadership is a God-Given Calling
Leadership is not self-appointed—it is given by God. This means leaders carry responsibility and authority that should be respected, as long as it aligns with God’s will.

C. Leadership Influences Others Toward God’s Purpose
Leaders guide people spiritually by teaching, setting examples, and helping others grow. Their role is to build up the church and lead people toward a godly life.

2. Covering Under Leadership
Main Idea (Hebrews 13:17)
Spiritual leaders watch over people and are accountable to God. Following godly leadership brings benefit, peace, and growth.

A. Leaders Watch Over Your Soul
Leaders pray, guide, and help people deal with struggles. They help create an environment where healing and spiritual growth can happen.

B. Receive Guidance and Counsel
Wise leadership provides direction and prevents wrong decisions. Being open to counsel leads to stability and success in life and faith.

C. Leadership Provides Protection
God uses leadership as a form of spiritual covering. Staying under godly leadership helps keep a person aligned with truth and protected from harm.

D. Leadership Brings Discipline and Growth
Correction and teaching are part of leadership. Discipline is meant to strengthen character and help believers mature.

Unity in the Body

Leadership helps maintain unity among believers. When people follow godly leadership, it creates harmony, peace, and a strong, united church.
