MY LOVE IS ENOUGH
John 3:16 ESV
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
1 John 4:19 ESV
"We love because he first loved us."
Sometimes, we seek love and fulfillment through people, money, fame, and achievements.
We demand more from other people and from our relationships.
People may fail us.
And the way we love, we also fail.
WHY GOD'S LOVE IS ENOUGH
1. Love Paid the Price for Sin and Death
Romans 8:3–4 ESV
"For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit."
Man has fallen short of the glory of God.
Because of sin, we face physical death.
But God's love provided a way through Jesus Christ. His sacrifice paid the price for our sin and gives us the hope of eternal life.
2. Love Adopts Us as Sons and Daughters
Ephesians 1:5 ESV
"He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will."
We are given the privilege of being called children of God.
One of the greatest privileges we have is an intimate relationship with God.
Our identity is found in being children of the Lord.
3. Love Gives Us a Rich and Abundant Life
John 10:10 ESV
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."
God's love fills every area of our lives.
When we have a beautiful relationship with God, it also affects the way we relate to the people around us. As God's love transforms us, our relationships can also be transformed.
4. Love Purifies Us to Live Holy Lives
Hebrews 9:14 ESV
"How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God."
Love purifies us to live holy lives.
- We are called to live a life that is pleasing to God.
- God's love enables us to pursue a holy life.
- The blood of the Lamb purifies us.
- We must trust in the love of God.
5. Love Causes Us to Obey Him
Matthew 22:37–40 ESV
"And he said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.'"
God defines love through obedience.
When we truly love God, our love is demonstrated through the way we obey Him and love others.
1 John 4:21 ESV
"And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother."
1 John 4:16 ESV
"So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him."
