MOMENT OF DEVOTION & PRAYER
REFERENCE: Ephesians 5:21-6:9
Topic: “Christian Household Relationships and Responsibilities”
Our “SLAP” for the Day
SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 5:21
“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”
LESSON:
Wives are instructed to submit to their own husbands, recognizing their leadership role. Submission does not imply inferiority but rather a willingness to honor the husband’s position. Children are to obey their parents in the Lord, showing respect and honor. This obedience aligns with God’s design for family relationships. Slaves (employees) are to serve their masters (employers) sincerely and respectfully, as if serving Christ. Work ethics matter in our Christian witness. These passages emphasize living out our roles in a way that pleases the Lord, whether as spouses, parents, or employees. By being filled with the Spirit and motivated by love and reverence for Christ, we honor God in our relationships and responsibilities
APPLICATION:
Husbands are called to love their wives sacrificially, modeling Christ’s love for the church. This love involves selflessness, care, and devotion. Fathers should avoid provoking their children and instead raise them in godly training and instruction. Parental guidance should reflect love and wisdom. Masters (employers) should treat their slaves (employees) justly and fairly, recognizing that they also have a Master in heaven. Fair treatment reflects God’s justice.
PRAYER:
Lord, fill us with Your Spirit. Motivate us by love and reverence for Christ. Whether as spouses, parents, or employees, may our actions honor You. May our relationships reflect Your grace and truth. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
