According to some psychological studies, the people whom we usually spend time with are the ones who end up being the most influential in our lives.

There was an old saying: "Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are."

Whether we like it or not, people around us have an impact in making our self-identity.

That is why it is very important to choose our friends wisely.

As stated by Paul of Tarsus in the book of 1 Corinthians, chapter 1, and verse 33: "Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character."

Imagine yourself competing in a running race. You want to look good and be fashionable. You want to wear boots with three-inch heels and a leather jacket. The question is, will this type of outfit serve its purpose for you to win? Will it be practical? Of course not! It will slow you down.

Sometimes, in our lives, we carry unnecessary baggages that keep us from moving forward. We allow ourselves to carry the burden that no longer helps us to keep going.

What are the examples of unnecessary baggages? They can be in a form of unforgiveness, bitterness, resentment, unresolved conflicts, etc.

No matter what we do, we can never let go of these baggages alone. We might be temporarily okay. But the truth is, we will never have peace.

The good news is, Jesus, our Lord, will help us in releasing these burdens. These strongholds. It is even stated in the Holy Scripture of Isaiah 43:18-19:

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now, it springs up; do you not perceive it?"

If you want new things in your life, be willing to move on from the past.

People pleasing is one the worst killers of self-identity. It can also mislead us to our true purpose in life.

The reality is, no matter what we do, we are not everyone's cup of tea. No matter how hard we try to please others, everyone might just fail us in the end. Because we are not PERFECT.

But worry no more. Instead of wasting our time to please the people around us, let us instead please God, who shows no favoritism, and the only ONE who knows our very worth.

It is stated in Acts 10:34-35: Then Peter began to speak, "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accept from every nation who fears him and does what is right."

Be at peace. You are loved. You are highly favored by God.

There are days that we feel tired or exhausted due to this fast-pacing and demanding world. We need to balance our personal life, work, studies, and other things for our well-being.

There will be a time when, due to exhaustion, we cannot feel any emotion anymore. Even when we rest physically, our mind will not stop thinking until we become restless.

When we are at this point, all we need is peace.

Jesus can give it to you. He even said: "Peace I leave with you; peace I give to you. Not as this world gives do I give to you. "(John14:27)

Resting will not be enough. Christ will be.

Getting through the healing stage is never easy. Several factors may come into play before we finally get healed.

But one thing is for sure. No storms can last forever. As what they say, "This too shall pass."

For us to finally heal, even slowly, or piece by piece, call upon Him and He will come to rescue the broken souls:

β€œO Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.” – Psalms 30:2

Freedom is a gift as it enables us to do things at our own will.

In this world where almost everything is allowable, let us not forget that we are held accountable for every decision that we make.

As written in 1 Corinthians 10:23:

"Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. I have the right to do anything, but not everything is constructive."

One of the easiest ways to get even with the people who hurt us is the mirror method: doing the same things they did to us for us to get even. We want revenge so that we can be temporarily satisfied.

However, because of the idea of getting even with them, we ended up just like them by mirroring them.

Be the bigger person by showing kindness in return.
