AKS 602: FMA not as popular?
Part 2 of 2
McDojos have mushroomed over the years and YouTube has made many combat expressions accessible for everyone's evaluation and criticism. Backyard practice isn't as palatable as a big, well furnished air conditoned gym of a popular combat system nearby complete with thousands of likes in popular social media. And who wants to learn a fighting style from a senior citizen who doesn't even have a black belt (the great G**o Dan Inosanto's early experience with the old folks of FMA does ring a bell?). Anyway, thanks to Hollywood and to the dedicated and passionate grandmasters and masters who want to preserve it for the current generation who would pass the art to the next. Indeed, FMA, albeit going against the norm commonly held by many is finally getting the attention it deserves, slowly but surely.
I pray that one day, my Kababayans will catch up with our non Filipino brothers and sisters who have shown more heart and will to practice and propagate FMA for the love of it. I hope a sufficient number of people will soon wake up to own it if not, simply giving FMA the chance to add new skillsets to the martial arts they are already in. Our ancestors would not have passed their FMA inheritance in vain to the commited few so mano po to the fathers who pioneered the preservation of FMA in the West and other parts of the globe. Indeed, FMA is our national contribution to the world towards peace and security and on my end, persist in doing my part in educating people in it Filipinos or not so wherever they are, they can appreciate FMA and its relevance to changing times.
Maraming salamat to Mandirigma Arnis. whose post has stimulated this response 2 years ago :-)
