Louis and Zélie Martin, the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission on Family and Life warmly invites all couples to join the 1st Archdiocesan Couples’ Congress on July 11, 2026, Saturday, at JSU-PSU Mariners Court Conference Hall.

Centered on the theme, “A Listening Family: A Step Towards a Synodal Journey for a Church Fully Alive,” the congress seeks to strengthen marriages and family life by fostering deeper faith, dialogue, and communion among couples.

Speakers include Most Rev. Marvyn Maceda (Bishop of San Jose de Antique and Vice-Chairman for the Visayas Region, CBCP Episcopal Commission on Family and Life), Bro. Edwin Lopez (Executive Secretary of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Social Communications and Senior Director for Asia Pacific of EWTN Global Operations), and Bro. Edwin Valles (Former President & Advocate of Courage Philippines).

REST IN PEACE, BISHOP BOY | With deep sadness, the Archdiocese of Cebu announces the passing of Most Reverend Emilio “Boy” Layon Bataclan, D.D., Bishop-emeritus of Cebu. He peacefully returned to the house of the Father today, June 24, 2026, at the age of 85.

Bishop Boy spent decades pouring out his life for the Archdiocese of Cebu. Ordained a priest in 1966 and elevated to the Episcopate in 1990, he went on to shepherd the faithful with an approachable heart, and love for his flock. He served with distinction as the Bishop of Iligan (1995–2004) before returning home to serve again, as an Auxiliary Bishop of Cebu from 2004 until his retirement in 2015.

Eternal rest grant unto Bishop Boy, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

PASTORAL APPEAL FROM THE ARCHBISHOP OF CEBU | In support of the White Ribbon Movement March, organized by various religious groups and endorsed by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), I invite all the faithful of the Archdiocese of Cebu to participate in this faith-based and non-partisan expression of our commitment to truth, accountability, justice, and righteousness in public life.

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, I encourage everyone to wear white clothing when attending Mass. If this is not possible, you may wear or pin a white ribbon. I likewise invite families, schools, offices, businesses, and institutions to display white ribbons in their homes, cars, workplaces, buildings, churches, and parish offices, as a visible sign of our shared desire for integrity, transparency, and good governance.

The white ribbon symbolizes our hope for a nation free from corruption and dishonesty. It expresses our call for accountability from those entrusted with public office, the responsible stewardship of public resources, and the pursuit of truth and justice for the common good. At the same time, it reminds us that genuine reform begins not only in our institutions but also in our own hearts.

The Word of God reminds us: “Learn to do good; seek justice” (Isaiah 1:17). The Psalmist likewise prays: “Create in me a clean heart, O God” (Psalm 51:10).

Therefore, on June 28, let us not only wear white and display white ribbons. Let us also pray fervently that God may purify our hearts and renew our nation in truth, justice, and love.

Our commitment, however, must not end on that day. Beyond June 28, let us continue to exercise critical discernment, seek the truth, reject misinformation, resist every form of corruption, and hold ourselves and our leaders accountable. As faithful Christians and responsible citizens, we are called to be witnesses to honesty, justice, and integrity in our daily lives.

May the Lord bless our nation with leaders of wisdom and conscience, and may He grant us the courage to work together for a more just and righteous society.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied” (Matthew 5:6).

HINUMDOMI PADRE | In order to afford the highest reverence to the Blessed Sacrament, we would like to remind the clergy that allowing the choir to hold the Sacred Host while simultaneously singing or while playing an instrument is LITURGICALLY INAPPROPRIATE.

Choir members and musicians should maintain a reverent posture and avoid actions that divide their attention or disrespect the sacrament.

FOR THE EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS OF MINDANAO | Cebu Archbishop Alberto Uy has urged all parishes, chaplaincies, shrines, and mission stations in the Archdiocese of Cebu to conduct a Second Collection during all Masses on 14 June 2026, the Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time.

The initiative is a response of faith and gratitude, moved by the generosity and solidarity extended to the people of Cebu in the aftermath of the September 2025 earthquake, and inspired by the Gospel call to “bear one another’s burdens”.

The conduct of the Second Collection is likewise mandated by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines, calling on Catholic communities across the country to unite in prayer and generosity for those in need.

PRAYER FOR MINDANAO | Mahigugmaon ug maluloy-on nga Diyos,

Nagpasalamat kami Kanimo sa Imong walay kinutuban nga kaayo, gugma, ug pagkamatinud-anon. Bisan taliwala sa mga pagsulay ug kalisdanan, Ikaw nagpabilin nga among kusog, dangpanan, ug paglaum.

Karon, nangamuyo kami Kanimo nga puno sa kasubo ug paglaum. Among isalig Kanimo ang among mga igsuon sa General Santos ug mga silingang lugar sa Mindanao nga naapektuhan sa 7.8 magnitude nga linog.

Tabangi sila sa ilang kasakit, ubani sila sa ilang kahadlok ug kalisod. Lig-ona ang mga samaran, hupaya ang mga nagbangutan, ug hatagi og paglaum ang mga nawad-an og balay, panginabuhian, ug kalinaw sa hunahuna.

Giyahi ang mga awtoridad, mga rescuers, ug mga boluntaryo. Hatagi sila og kusog, kaluwasan, ug hustong panabot aron makatabang sila sa mga nanginahanglan.

Puno og pagtuo, amo isalig kanimo ang tibuok Pilipinas—nga sa panahon sa kalamidad, magpabilin ang pagkahiusa, pagtinabangay, ug kalig-on sa matag Pilipino.

O Ginoo, ipabati mo unta kanila ang Imong presensya sa taliwala niining kalisod, ug hinaot nga ang Imong panalipod ug kaayohan magpabilin kanunay. Itugot nga pinaagi sa Imong grasya, makabangon sila nga adunay bag-ong paglaum, kalig-on, ug pagsalig Kanimo.

Kini among gipangayo pinaagi ni Jesucristo, imong Anak, among Ginoo, nga buhi ug hari uban Kanimo diha sa panaghiusa sa Espiritu Santo, Dios hangtud sa kahangturan. Amen.
