On this First Sunday of Lent, we reflect on the moment when Jesus was tempted in the desert. Before beginning His public ministry, He spent forty days in prayer and fasting. In His weakness, the tempter cameโbut Jesus remained faithful to the Father.
This Gospel reminds us that temptation is part of our human journey. Even Jesus faced it. Yet through prayer, trust, and the Word of God, He overcame. Lent invites us to do the sameโto stand firm in faith when we are tested, to choose obedience over pride, and to trust God over worldly desires.
When we fall, we do not lose hope. We return to God with humility. That is why today we pray:

Psalm 51 is a cry of repentance. It is the prayer of a heart that knows it needs God. Lent is not about being perfectโit is about being honest before the Lord and allowing Him to renew us.
As we begin this sacred season, may we:
โข Resist temptation with courage
โข Pray with sincerity
โข Fast with humility
โข Seek mercy with trust

โข Unsa nga mga tentasyon ang pirmi nako maatubang?
โข Sa dihang matintal ko, modangop ba ko sa Ginoo o sa akong kaugalingong kusog?
โข Tinuod ba ang akong paghinulsol, o kahadlok lang sa silot?

Lent is a journey from temptation to transformation. If we stay close to God, every desert can become a place of victory.
