FAITH/BELIEVE
Make an examination mula sa original word used sa Holy Bible (NT, greek) sa meaning and intention for the word: BELIEVE and FAITH . (John 6:29, Romans 10:9, Acts 16:31, Mark 11:24, Galatians 2:16, John 3:16 &mm)
iba kasi ang dating sa wika nating filipino na "maniwala lang". Yung bang knowledge p***e lang talaga, pero wala talagang TRUST engagement/involvement.
You'll see and be surprised na talagang it's about 'pag-e-en-TRUST' ang lalabas eh, as in full reliance dun sa finished work ni Christ.
Yung bang from what I believe in my heart and in my mind before akala ko na may ambag pa ako sa 'kagandahang-loob ng Dios' (Romans 11:6) INTO fully-entrusting now by believing what Christ has accomplished. And this is actually the same kind of REPENTANCE (metanoia) Jesus preached to the religious jewish people of Galilee as his first ever preaching (Matthew 4:17, Mark 1:15)
Hindi basta-bastang jewish ang mga taga-Galilee, kasi they were very observant and religious. Maingat sila sa pamumuhay, and yet Jesus preached to them REPENT! Why? Kasi all this time they taught they were justified by works in their sin sa paningin ng Dios. As in all their sacrifices and way of living they taught made them righteous (right with God). The Lord Jesus preached to them to 'change the way you think'.
At ang makaka-appreciate lang niyan ay those people na may REALIZATION (yung may pag-a-accept sa truth)/(metanoia ba) na helplessness and hopelessness ang mayroon sa efforts apart from the root of salvation (which is grace through faith), yung as in kahit pala even the very righteous act is just as filthy rags lang talaga sa harap ni God (Isaiah 64:6, Romans 3:23). Yung good works na sana eh, sayang, naging dead works pa.
(legit 'good works' are actually God's work in you, Philippians 2:12-13, credited to God and for God's glory alone. In Christian theology, good works that are performed with the intention of earning or kahit maintaining salvation are labeled dead works. Hebrews 6:1, 9:14, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, Galatians 2:21)
So, when the so-called good works is to contribute to the Lord's Finished work and not as the fruit of salvation it becomes 'dead works'.
Kaya the next time you see or hear such words "JUST HAVE FAITH", "JUST BELIEVE", you know that it is NOT a cheap response to the powerful Finished Work of Chirst na para bang cheap gospel. No. Proper study of the Word makikita mo yung amazing grace ng Panginoong Jesus.
Our testimony sa Radical Grace/Sukdulang Biyaya ng Dios, hindi naman kami na-encourage na maging immoral (kami yun ah, though mayroon din kasing iba na mag-claim ng radical grace, tapos mas lalong nagiging radical sa makasalanang pamumuhay), hindi naman kami na-encourage na magpalalo sa kasalanan (in fact, mas lalo kang makakaramdam ng hiya sa pagkakasala dahil revealed na sa iyo that you're totally forgiven with ALL your sins, tapos hihirit ka pa ng hihirit, unlike sa 'ihihingi nalang ng tawad kasi papatawarin naman', mas licentiousness yun)
LET'S KEEP SHARING THE GOODNEWS NG KAGANDAHANG-LOOB NG DIOS!
The Gospel literally means GOODNEWS. Kung sinabi ng 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 na ito ang Gospel, paano naman ito naging GOODNEWS?
The Gospel is the Goodnews. Goodnews is a goodnews, it is something we have to embrace and it is not something to obey. (think again)
How about 2 Thessalonians 1:8
“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:”
Let’s examine 2 Thessalonians 1:8 carefully from the Greek text and its context.
The verse says:
“in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.” (ESV)
The Greek phrase is:
τοῖς μὴ ὑπακούουσιν τῷ εὐαγγελίῳ (tois mē hypakouousin tō euangeliō)
Literally:
“those not responding to the gospel”
The key word is:
1. The Greek word: ὑπακούω (hypakouō)
This is the verb translated “obey" which directly says "to respond."
Word breakdown
hypo = under
akouō = to hear
Literally:
“to hear under”
The idea is not merely external rule-keeping.
It carries meanings such as:
to heed,
to listen responsively,
to submit to what is heard,
to respond appropriately.
So biblically, obedience is often connected to hearing with responsive faith.
This is important because the gospel is not merely information to admire intellectually. It is a divine proclamation demanding a response.
The Gospel according to 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Jesus died, buried and rose from the dead in behalf of us. Faith is PLACING OUR TRUST to what He has done and not placing our trust to what we can do. FAITH/TRUSTING is the proper response to this gift of salvation. When the faith is genuine, a person is saved and obedience and good works are no longer an issue, but let the message be crsytal clear first, because this is the foundation of everything we will do.
John 3:16 NKJV
[16] For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Romans 6:23 NKJV
[23] For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God iseternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Corinthians 12:3 (ESV): "...no one can say 'Jesus is Lord' except in the Holy Spirit."
Ephesians 1:13-14 NKJV
[13] In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, [14] who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Our faithfulness and loyalty should be in the Word of God.
AMEN!!!
