There’s a unique and humbling irony in leading while you yourself are wounded. You are going through pain and yet ministering to someone who is in pain. The very act of giving hope, strength, or encouragement to others can feel impossible when your own heart is heavy. And yet, this is often where God meets us most profoundly.
When Jesus walked this earth, He led while bleeding—metaphorically and literally. He bore His own grief, rejection, and even physical suffering, yet He healed the sick, comforted the broken, and served others all the way to the cross. His ultimate act of leadership was born out of His greatest pain.
For us, the call to lead while bleeding is a reminder of two things:
God meets us in our brokenness. Psalm 147:3 reminds us that God heals the brokenhearted and binds our wounds. While we may not feel whole, His strength sustains us as we walk through difficult seasons.
Our vulnerability is a ministry. Sometimes, it’s our pain and perseverance that speak louder than our words. By walking faithfully through trials while serving others, we reflect God’s grace and become a living testimony of His power.
Acknowledge your pain. Be honest with God about your struggles. His healing starts when we bring our wounds to Him.
Lean on God’s strength. Remember that it’s okay to feel weak. His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Let your story inspire. Share your journey. You may not realize it, but your courage to lead while bleeding could bring comfort and encouragement to someone who feels alone in their pain.
