This weekโs Come, Follow Me study invites us to see the story of the Fall of Adam and Eve not as a tragedy, but as a necessary step in Godโs loving plan. Leaving the Garden of Eden meant entering a world of opposition, pain, and mortality, but it also opened the door to growth, choice, and joy.
Adam and Eve learned that progression requires experience. Through the Fall, they gained the ability to choose, to learn from mistakes, and to turn to God in faith and repentance. Life would no longer be effortless, but it would be meaningful. Their choice made it possible for families to continue, for us to gain bodies, and for each soul to grow toward divine potential.
Most importantly, the Fall points us to Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father did not leave His children without hope. Through the Saviorโs Atonement, every consequence of the Fall can be overcome. Pain can be healed, mistakes forgiven, and death conquered. Because of Him, sorrow can lead to wisdom, and weakness can become strength.
Like Adam and Eve, we face opposition every day. We make choices, stumble at times, and learn to rely on the Savior. The Fall reminds us that growth is part of Godโs plan, and joy is its purpose. As we trust Jesus Christ and exercise our agency, we move forward not away from God, but toward Him, step by step. ๐ฑโจ
