Exactly 1 year na nang maishare ko ang Word na ito. And the Lord brought these exact verses again on my personal devotion, and it hits so much different 😭🤯
Today the Lord reminded me na yes merong super rare opportunity yung isang thief na nabanggit, but there is a traggic side parin. That thief never had the opportunity to grow, bear fruit, and live His life for the glory of his Creator.
Kaya ngayon kapatid, tayo na mga buhay ngayon lagi natin samantalahin ang pagkakataon na maipamuhay man lang natin ang buhay na ito na laging mag bigay ng Glory sa ating Panginoon!
Stop playing around. Mag seryoso ka palagi kay Lord!

Jesus called us to love those you might otherwise hate and those who hate you. Minsan iniisip natin, I don't hate anyone naman e. Pwedeng totoo yan sa iyong feelings, but hatred is a behavior. When you are angry with someone and experience a judgemental or a vengeful heart, that is hatred. Kapag nag gossip ka ng kapatid mo, you are damaging their reputation, that is hatred.
Jesus' Spirit is Love, not hate. And His behavior is to forgive and bless His enemies, not curse them (He came to save people and not to destroy). Matthew 5:46 also said, For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?
Shalom!

YET: The Beauty of Faith

‭Matthew 26:39 NASB
And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will."

Before His crucifixion, Jesus cried to the Father to take the cup of suffering away from Him. The Father knew that Jesus was in deep sorrow, but still didn't take it away from Him. What was Jesus' response? The word, "yet."

"Yet" is the same as the words "despite of", "even though", and "but." It gives contrast to the clause that was first mentioned or written. And it adds a deeper level of understanding of how Jesus obeyed the Father even though He knew the circumstances that He is going to face.

It takes faith to trust the Lord regardless of what lies ahead. It takes faith to obey Him even though the things we're going through is far beyond our knowledge.

Magtitiwala hindi "dahil sa," kundi "kahit na."

‭Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Most of the times, the Lord will not change the situation. What He wanted to change is our hearts. He wanted our hearts to lean not on ourselves, but to Him.

In this life's roller-coaster ride, trust Him more than ever before.

‭John 13:7
Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

BUILDING OUR CHARACTERS UP

Matthew 7:20
Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

After we have come to know the Lord, there's a deep desire in our hearts that we want to be used by Him in terms of service. That's why, our "first" response would be ministry involvement. We have this eagerness inside of us that wanted to serve Him in the ways that we can.

But most of the times, we think serving Him solves it all, we "forget" to build our characters up.

Philippians 2:12-13
[12] Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, [13] for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

Working out our salvation doesn't only require external things that we do for the Lord. There's a passage in the Bible that is a hard pill to swallow. In Matthew 7:21-23, we can see here that even though the people who come before the Lord "serve" Him, He says He didn't know them in return. Why is it so?

Serving Him is never a wrong thing to do. In fact, that is what we need to do! We ought to share the Gospel, do our ministries for His glory. Those are GIFTS for the KINGDOM.

Aren't the products in serving Him the fruit?

Galatians 5:22-23
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

The fruit is our character. My dear friends, we can be more Christ-like if we start building our characters first. Having passion is good, but we need COMPASSION. Compassion is the result of love, and love is a fruit of the Spirit.

If we truly want to lead people towards Christ, this is the reality -- unbelievers identify us not with the success we have in the ministry but with our characters.

Remember, the apostles built their characters, even our Lord Jesus. He grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). Character is not something to neglect, but to work out.

HE DIED TO GIVE US LIFE.

John 10:10b NKJV
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Isn't it beautiful how the Creator of the whole universe have come to gave us life in full? Yes, He did that. While it was hard for Him to die on that cross, out of the abundance of His love, He gave Himself for us.

Dying on that cross is not an easy-peasy task to do especially when you need to sacrifice your own life to pay not for your own sins, but for the others. It's really hard to comprehend how the King of Majesty selflessly died for us.

Because of His death, we are alive.

Ephesians 2:4-9 NKJV
[4] But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, [5] even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), [6] and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, [7] that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. [8] For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, [9] not of works, lest anyone should boast.

But He has risen in victory, and now we share in His glory!
