LOVE THEM!
"I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes" (Romans 1.16a)...
There is a common misconception that all we have to do to win somebody to Christ is love them. People are born again (saved) by preaching the gospel to them (Mk.16.15-16, subtitle, 1Cor.4.15b & Eph.6.19-20). (Jn.3.5-7).
It's not a warm feeling or good works that save a person, but the preaching of the gospel (Mk.16.15 - 16 & subtitle)! Preaching the gospel is the best way to show love to a person because it gives them the opportunity to believe on Christ, be saved (Jn.1.12, Acts16.31) and have eternal life (Jn.3.15).
Our love is also shown to Christ by preaching the gospel (Mk.16.15). He says - "If you love me keep my commandments (Jn.14.15 & 21)." By preaching the gospel to people God's two greatest commandments are fulfilled to Love God and love our neighbor as ourself (Mt.22.36-39). God also commands us to make disciples (Mt.28.19). We do this by teaching at least one person we beget through the gospel to preach it (Mk.16.15, Mt.18.20 & 28.20 and 1Cor.4.15b).
By keeping Christ's great commandments the world is saved from its wickedness (1Cor.4.15b & 1Jn.1.3 & 5.19). And when Christs commandment to preach the gospel to every one in the world (Mk.16.15) is fulfilled he will return. And we will meet him in the clouds to be with him forever, the blessed hope (Mt.24.14 & 30-31, 1Cor.15.51-53, 1Thes.4.13-18 and Tit.2.13). But how can we keep Christ's commandment to preach the gospel if we don't know what it is?
I attended several different Christian denominations over thirty years searching for the right church and none of them taught me what the gospel is! They have replaced it with their own doctrines; Evangelicals with their 'Plan of Salvation' and Catholics with their 'Gospel of Good Works' and Eucharest (Communion). So instead of keeping Christ's commandment to preach the gospel we merely attend church. Christ does not say to worship him in a building, as religion has instituted. He says - "If you love me keep my commandments" (Jn.14.15 & 21). But if they teach us to preach the gospel the world becomes our church and pulpit, as Christ commands (Mk.16.15). We don't need a church building. Then who will pay their salaries and for their fancy buildings and Seminaries?
The Apostle Paul clearly defines the gospel in his first letter to the church in Corinth (See 1Cor.15.1-4.). And he forbade the preaching of any other gospel (Gal.1.8-9), as today's so-called churches are doing (5th paragraph). To preach it we simply have to declare to people as we go (Mk.16.15 & Eph.6.15) how that - "Christ died for our sins; He was buried, and he rose the third day (1Cor.15.3-4 abbr.)." This is the gospel according to the scriptures, the same gospel Paul received and preached (v.3-4). And it saves every one that believes (Rom.1.16) when we speak it to them in person with our mouth (preach it, 1Cor.1.21b) as he (Col.4.3-4 & Eph.6.19-20) and Christ's other disciples did (Mk.16.20, Acts 8.4 & 11.19-21, Rom.10.14-15, 1Cor.15.11, 1Thes.1.8 and 1Jn.1.3).
By preaching the gospel (Mk.16.15) and teaching at least one person we beget through the gospel to preach it (Mt.18.20, 28.20 & 1Cor.4.15b) we fulfill God's two greatest commandments, to love Him with all our heart (Jn.14.15&21) and to love our neighbor as ourself (Mt.22.36-39). Hereby the world is saved from its wickedness (Mk.16.15-16, 1Cor.4.15b, 1Jn.1.3 & 5.19). And when Christ's commandment to preach the gospel to every one in the world (Mk.16.15) is fulfilled he will return. And we will meet him in the clouds to be with him forever, the blessed hope (Mt.24.14 & 30-31, 1Cor.15.51-53, 1Thes.4.13-18 and Tit.2.13).
We love God and our neighbor by preaching the gospel to them, not by a warm fuzzy feeling or good works. The gospel saves!
