Trial Before Triumph

Those who follow a calling bigger than themselves possess a subtle kind of fearlessness that is shaped by unwavering devotion. This bravery took time to forge, according to Rev. Fr. Rico P. Quilinguin, a recently ordained priest of the Crusaders of the Divine Church of Christ. Years of hardship, surrender, and faith in a greater cause helped him construct.
Born to Reynaldo Quilinguin and Rosemae Quilinguin, Fr. Rico was raised in a humble home. He is the firstborn among the four valiant sons of the Quilingin couple.
On May 16, 2019, he embarked on a thrilling and sought-after voyage into the seminary. He entered with an eagerness to study and serve, just as most blessed individuals who take their first step toward becoming a priest. Early on, he was excited to meet other seminarians, immerse himself in Apo Lakay's teachings and words, and embrace what initially seemed like an easy, clear path.
However, the seminary turned out to be a refining quest in which vocation is developed, and faith is put to the test, rather than a straightforward path.
Below the surface of structured learning and spiritual training resides the ultimate test of devotion. The obstacles seemed unexpected and, at times, overwhelming. These were not just academic or physical challenges, but deeply personal fights that tested his strength, resolve, and even his calling.
Despite the difficulties and times of uncertainty, Rev. Fr. Rico Quilingin discovered something more. He discovered direction. He discovered strength. Above all, he discovered Apo Lakay's unending love and presence, which helped him withstand every storm.
Every obstacle turned into a stepping stone rather than a barrier. Every adversity serves as a silent prelude to something much more significant.
The challenging road of tribulations has brought Rev. Fr. Rico Quilingin great joy; the sacred privilege of ministering as a consecrated priest filled his heart with gratitude.
For every hardship he endured, he now sees the hidden blessings they carried. For every tear shed, a deeper joy was waiting on the other side.
“Kaya lubos at walang-hanggan ang pagpupuri ko sa ating Ama RSM,” he shares with pure gratitude.
He believes his voyage is only just beginning. Ordination is the start of a bigger ministry, not its conclusion.
As Rev. Fr. Rico Quilingin approaches this new phase of his life with courage, humility, and unshakeable faith. Regardless of the road ahead that may present new difficulties, he is prepared to meet them as a committed servant of God, not by himself, but by the same holy guidance that sustained him before.
One thing is evident from his story: the call to serve is never simple, but it is always worthwhile.
