Following the Sunnah, Avoiding Bid‘ah

This the authentic hadith about fasting the Ayyām al-Bīḍ (White Days):

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِثَلَاثٍ: صِيَامِ ثَلاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ، وَرَكْعَتَيِ الضُّحَى، وَأَنْ أُوتِرَ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَنَامَ.
(رواه البخاري ومسلم)

Translation:
Abu Hurairah (RA) said: “My beloved (the Prophet ﷺ) advised me to do three things: to fast three days of every month, to pray two rak‘ahs of Duha, and to pray Witr before sleeping.”
(Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Let us avoid innovations (bid‘ah) that were never practiced by the Prophet ﷺ or his noble Companions. True love for the Prophet ﷺ is shown by obeying his teachings and reviving his Sunnah.

“Say, [O Muhammad], If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive your sins.” (Qur’an 3:31)

This Rabī‘ al-Awwal, let us live by the Sunnah and keep away from practices that were never part of Islam.

Today, the Bangsamoro Government solemnly remembers the tragic events of 57 years ago, when 23 Tausug and Sama military recruits were cruelly executed on Corregidor Island.

Known as the 𝙅𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙝 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙚, this devastating incident became a turning point in Bangsamoro history, awakening the consciousness of the Moro people and fueling their pursuit of self-determination.

As we celebrate this year’s Bangsamoro History Month with the theme, 'Paggunita sa Nakaraan, Aral ng Kasalukuyan, Daan Tungo sa Mapayapang Kinabukasan,' may this event serve as both a reminder for future generations and a testament to the 'seeds of the modern Bangsamoro struggle,' as stated by BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim in his speech on the Jabidah narrative three years ago.

The Bangsamoro Peace Conference, headed by the Union of Muslim Youth Organizations, Inc. (UMYOi) together with different Islamic Organizations, will commence on the 26th day of January 2025, entitled 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 with a theme "𝐎𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡, 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐝."

This gathering brings together the voices of our youth coming from diverse Islamic organizations, fostering deep understanding, forging unity, and shared values to sow the seeds of peace and harmony. Through open dialogue and collaborative action, we empower the youth to become the leader whose shaping young minds for a brighter tomorrow. A leader that is built with respect, humility, and compassion for the betterment of Bangsamoro.
