CHURCH ETHICS AND REMINDERS
Let all things be done decently and in order."
(1 Cor. 14:40)
Order means "arrange" or a group of people united in a formal way.
1. Be on time on Sunday Stop going to church late if you can go earlier to you work you can go also earlier to church.
2. Always carry a Bible to the house of God instead of phones with bible apps. It is not about the Bible, it is you supporting your convictions and telling the world where you stand. You may not read from your Bible in church because of the one on the screen, but never leave it at home when you go to church. There are things God will want to tell you from the Bible that may not be on the one displayed on the screen.
3. Dress a proper robe or dress. For women, Dress with modesty, don't cause men to sin. you'll go to the house of God not to your friends or mall.
4. When you go to the house of God, be a worshipper not an observer. You're not in the church to be entertained by music team or songleader so don't critizise them if you don't like their voice or the song.
5. When you go to give testimony, please, use your allotted time.* keep to time, don't preach another sermon. Stop telling unnecessary stories, go straight to the point.
6. Don't disobey the ushers. Any sit they give to you, go there and sit down. Stop sizing ushers and insisting on a particular or favorite place to sit! The ushers are like the angels of the Lord that knows where you will actually be well positioned to get your blessing from the service. When you disrespect them, you disrespect the leader of the church.
7. Offering time is not a time to ease yourself or meditate. It is not a good thing to appear before God without an offering in your hands, except you don't have. Also ensure you give your children their offering before you send them to their classes so they won't be left out.
8. When it is time for praise and worship, get up, rejoice and dance.* It is foolishness to assume you are bigger than God or you are doing God a favor by worshipping him. Don't make yourself look like a statute when others are shouting with joy and excitement when praising God. You can shout and dance in parties but when you come to church you will be forming. Who are you forming for?
9. During the Preaching of the word of God. Don't critize the pastor if the message hit you. The preacher or your pastor don't know your personal life. Nobody gossip your life to your pastor.
10. After service, go home. Stop gossiping your brethen if you dislike them or their actions.
11. Stop forming your own groups in the church that cause division. There should no schism in the church. You should treat everbody fairly. Love them, greet everyone and be friendly to everyone. Flow with everyone in the church, they are your brothers and sisters in Christ.
12. Exchange greetings with new faces especially visitors, candidate for baptism and new converts. Stop making people feel neglected. Make everyone feels comfortable and welcome.
Additionals:
• Don't critizise everyone, Stop finding fault to your brothers and sisters instead focus yourself unto God
• Stop murmurings and complaining. The church is not perfect. Stop complaining about the preaching, the songs, and music team.
•Throw your garbage in the garbage can. Be responsible. Workers are church's worker not your personal janitor or helper.
•The house of God is not a canteen. Eat your food outside.
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace” (1 Corinthians 14:33).
*BEING IN CHURCH IS NOT FOR THE GOOD OF GOD NOR FOR THE GOOD OF YOUR PASTOR, BUT FOR THY OWN GOOD.*
