🩸✝️ HE CHECKED FOR THE BLOOD

📖 Exodus 12:13 | Romans 5:9 (KJV)
“When I see the blood, I will pass over you…” — Exodus 12:13

🌟 INTRODUCTION

On the night of the Passover, God did not inspect the people inside the house.
He did not examine their character, conduct, or consistency.

He looked for one thing only — THE BLOOD.
This Old Testament picture finds its fulfillment in Christ, whose blood alone satisfies God’s justice.
In the Dispensation of Grace, salvation is still by blood, not by behavior.

👉 God does not save the worthy — He saves the covered.

Should Pastors Be Called “Reverend”?
A Biblical Look at this Coveted Title.

Is it right to call a pastor “Reverend”? Does the Bible support this title for men of God?

Let’s examine it with Truth. Logic. Scripture.

🔹 I. TRUTH: The Word “Reverend” Appears Only Once in the Entire Bible - It Describes God Alone

📖 Psalm 111:9
“He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.”

Let that sink in.
The only time “reverend” appears in the Bible, it is connected to God’s name, not any man’s title.

In Hebrew, the word translated “reverend” (yārēʾ) carries the idea of awe, fear, and sacred reverence, something far beyond what should be given to man.

🔹 II. LOGIC: Should Any Human Be Called What Scripture Reserves for God Alone?

The word “reverend” means:
“One who is to be revered; to inspire awe or holy fear.”

No pastor — no matter how gifted, deserves that level of reverence.
To assign it to men is to blur the line between servant and Sovereign.

Would Paul, Peter, or James ever answer to “Most Reverend Apostle Paul”?

🔹 III. SCRIPTURE: Biblical Leaders Were Humble Servants and Never Titled “Reverend”

📖 Philippians 1:1
“Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:”

📖 2 Corinthians 4:5
“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.”

📖 Matthew 23:11
“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.”

You won’t find “Reverend Paul,” “Reverend Peter,” or “Reverend John” anywhere.

The apostles referred to themselves as:

Servants
Elders
Ministers
Fellow laborers

Not once did they assign themselves or others religious titles to elevate status.

🔹 IV. Jesus Warned Against TITLE Seeking Religious Culture.

📖 Matthew 23:8–12
“But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

Jesus was clear: Don’t seek titles. Be a servant.
True spiritual authority is seen in humility and not in honorary labels.

✅ CONCLUSION:

The title “Reverend” may be common today, but it is:

▶️ Never given to any man in Scripture

▶️ Reserved for God alone

▶️ Contrary to the example and teaching of Christ

📖 Psalm 111:9

His name is reverend. Not mine. Not yours. Not any pastor’s.

A faithful preacher doesn’t need a title to be respected. He needs a heart that fears God and feeds the flock.

Let God have what belongs to Him!
