Patron Saint of the Sick and Plague Victims
16 August; Feast Day
Saint Roch was born in Montpellier, France, in the 14th century. From a young age, he showed deep devotion to God and compassion for the poor. During a time of plague, he traveled across Italy, healing countless victims by making the Sign of the Cross over them. Eventually, he himself contracted the plague and withdrew into the forest, where a dog miraculously brought him bread each day and licked his wounds until he recovered. His life of charity, humility, and miraculous healing made him venerated as the Patron Saint of the Sick, plague victims, and all those who suffer.
PRAYER | O Saint Roch, humble servant of God and compassionate protector of the sick, pray for me and help me! Through your intercession, may I be preserved from illness and strengthened in times of suffering. Inspire in me the same love for God and neighbor that guided your life of service.
Grant me the grace to trust in Godโs mercy, to endure trials with faith, and to bring comfort to those in need. Amen.
Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory Be
