CWL–Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Claveria Joins National Tree-Growing Mission
In faithful response to the Catholic Women’s League of the Philippines’ national environmental initiative, Growing 1,000 Trees: CWL’s Green Mission for Creation Care, the CWL Unit of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Claveria successfully carried out a tree planting activity as part of its commitment to care for God’s creation. The activity was implemented under the leadership of Jaylord F. Rupinta, CWL Unit President, and supported by the active participation of CWL members.
Aligned with the call of Pope Francis in Laudato Si’ to protect and nurture the environment, the parish-based initiative contributed to the CWL Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro’s collective effort to promote ecological stewardship and community greening. During the activity, a total of twenty-three tree seedlings were planted within Claveria area, consisting of fruit-bearing and indigenous species such as mahogany, mango, mangosteen, lemon, avocado, and rambutan.
The tree planting activity was carefully documented through an official attendance and planting record, duly signed by participating members, ensuring compliance with CWL project requirements for transparency and accountability. Beyond planting, members expressed their commitment to regularly monitor and nurture the seedlings to help ensure high survival rates and long-term environmental benefit.
Through this meaningful activity, the CWL Our Lady of Lourdes Parish–Claveria Unit not only contributed to environmental protection but also strengthened faith in action by translating Christian values into concrete service. The initiative fostered greater environmental awareness among members and reinforced the CWL’s mission of stewardship for the benefit of the community and future generations.
