As we offer our dances and prayers, we entrust our families and our future to His divine protection.

DECEMBER 24, 2025 | Christmas Eve Mass

𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗷𝗼𝘆𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗱. DECEMBER 16, 2025 | 1st day of Misa de Gallo

The first day of Misa de Gallo at Saint Peter Claver Parish marked a meaningful and joyful beginning of the Christmas season, bringing the community together in prayer and thanksgiving.

Along with this celebration, we are also grateful to officially begin the first day of our Santa Claus Giving, a beautiful reminder of the spirit of generosity, joy, and sharing that defines this season. WHAT DO WE REMEMBER EACH WEEK OF ADVENT?

We are about to enter the season of Advent. And one of the most popular symbols used during this season the Advent wreath. The Advent wreath is a symbol of the season, with a candle lit each of the four Sundays leading up to, and on Christmas Day. The four candles represent the four weeks of Advent, and one candle is lit each Sunday. Three of the candles are purple because the color violet is a liturgical color that signifies a time of prayer, penance, and sacrifice.

• FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT—HOPE
The first candle, which is purple, symbolizes hope. It is sometimes called the “Prophecy Candle” in remembrance of the prophets, especially Isaiah, who foretold the birth of Christ. It represents the expectation felt in anticipation of the coming Messiah.

• SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT—PEACE
The second candle, also purple, represents Peace. It is called the “Bethlehem Candle” as a reminder of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem.

• THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT—JOY
The third candle is pink and symbolizes joy. It is called the “Shepherd’s Candle,” and is pink because rose is a liturgical color for joy. The third Sunday of Advent is Gaudete Sunday and is meant to remind us of the joy that the world experienced at the birth of Jesus, as well as the joy that the faithful have reached the midpoint of Advent.

• FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT—LOVE
On the fourth week of Advent, we light the final purple candle to mark the final week of prayer and penance as we wait for the birth of our Savior. This final candle, the “Angel’s Candle,” symbolizes Love. It reminds us that God is love.

•WHITE CANDLE
Sometimes a white candle is placed in the middle of the wreath; this is a beautiful modern adaptation. The white candle is lit on Christmas Eve. This candle is called the “Christ Candle” and represents the life of Christ. The color white is for purity—because Christ is our sinless, pure Savior.

Using an Advent Wreath is an excellent way to prepare your mind and heart for Christmas.
