21𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐈𝐍 𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄
“𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑷𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒐𝒄𝒌 𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝑪𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒊𝒕.” (Matthew 16:18)
In today’s Gospel, Jesus asks His disciples a profound question: “Who do you say that I am?” Peter responds with a declaration of faith, recognizing Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of the living God. In turn, Christ entrusts Peter with a unique mission and establishes him as the rock upon which His Church will be built.
This Gospel reminds us that the Church stands not on human strength alone, but on Christ, who remains her foundation and source of life. Through Peter and his successors, the Lord continues to guide His Church in faith and truth, even amid the challenges of every generation.
As we celebrate the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time, may we also be renewed in our own profession of faith. May we have the courage to proclaim who Jesus is, not only with our words but through the way we live, love, serve, and remain faithful to His Church.
