THE LAUNCHING OF 1ST-PARISH BASED LAUDATE DEUM POCKET FOREST | The Laudate Deum Pocket Forest was officially launched at Virgen de los Remedios Parish, graced by the presence of His Excellency, Most Rev. Alberto "Abet" S. Uy D.D, Archbishop of Cebu.

The celebration brought together the Laudate Deum Pocket Forest Core Team, NaTad-Visayas Native Tree Enthusiasts Technical Team, Pagtambayayong Foundation, Inc. and Sir Bimbo Fernandez.

Special thanks to Barangay Labangon headed by Hon. Derrick Yap, Barangay Calamba headed by Hon. Ester G. Co**ha, BPSO, Station 10, CCTO, BSP–Don Sergio Osmeña Sr. Memorial National High School, CIT-University, BMA Legacy Clinic, Parish Mandated Organizations and Ministries, all the working team and the CACEC–Youth Eco Disciples for making this celebration possible.

More than the planting of trees, this pocket forest is a living symbol of synodality: a beautiful witness of different people, communities, ministries, institutions and organizations coming together, walking together and working together for one shared mission: to care for creation and protect our common home. It reminds us that when we listen to one another, share our gifts and take responsibility together, small seeds of hope can grow into something much greater.

A festive and vibrant celebration of faith, creation and shared responsibility!

The Laudate Deum Pocket Forest was officially launched at Virgen de los Remedios Parish, today, September 04, 2026, graced by the presence of Archbishop Abet Uy.

The celebration brought together the Laudate Deum Pocket Forest Core Team, NaTad-Visayas Native Tree Enthusiasts Technical Team, Pagtambayayong Foundation, Inc. and Sir Bimbo Fernandez.

This is synodality in action: working together and sharing our gifts for one mission. The Pocket Forest is not only about planting trees; it is also about building a community that cares, participates and takes responsibility for Creation.

Laudate Deum Pocket Forest Briefing | As the pilot parish of the Archdiocese of Cebu, Virgen de los Remedios Parish continues its preparations for the Laudate Deum Pocket Forest Launching on September 4, 2026.

A meaningful briefing was held with Sir Bernard Restificar, together with our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Peter Monteron and our Lay Coordinators for Ecology. More than preparing for the launching, we are being formed and strengthened in our mission of becoming responsible stewards of our common home.

Together, let us nurture not only a pocket forest, but also a community of ecology stewards who care, act and inspire others to protect creation.

Coordination Meeting | Laudate Deum Pocket Forest Launching

On August 14, 2026, the Virgen de los Remedios Parish held a coordination meeting in preparation for the upcoming Laudate Deum Pocket Forest Launching on September 4, 2026.

The meeting was led by Rev. Fr. Peter Monteron, Parish Priest, together with Hon. Ester G. Co**ha, Barangay Captain of Calamba, and Mr. Germain Bargamento, Barangay Secretary of Labangon, representing Hon. Derick Yap, Barangay Captain of Labangon.

Also present were representatives from the PPC Service Committee, Bro. Camilo Sacedon, Parish Caritas Program Implementor, Mrs. Janet Entese, and representatives from the Eco-Youth Disciples, Parish Media Team, Pastoral Workers, and Parish Lay Coordinator for Ecology, Mrs. Wilma Tabasa.

The coordination focused on strengthening collaboration among the parish and barangay communities and finalizing preparations for this significant environmental initiative.

Together, let us continue to care for our Common Home and nurture a community committed to environmental stewardship.

The Virgen de los Remedios Parish and the United Professional Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (UPEEP) formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development of the electrical plans for the entire parish.

The occasion also featured the presentation of the Electrical Audit and Rehabilitation Project, providing a comprehensive look at the parish’s electrical system and the necessary steps toward its improvement and rehabilitation.

Through the leadership and expertise of UPEEP, this partnership marks an important step toward ensuring a safer, more efficient, and well-planned electrical system for the parish and its community.

August 7, 2026 | The Virgen de los Remedios Parish Ministry of the Altar Servers celebrated the Feast of Saint Tarsicius with a Fiesta Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Jonas C. Yap, followed by a solemn procession in honor of thier patron.

Saint Tarsicius reminds us that serving at the altar is a sacred calling. Through his love for the Holy Eucharist and his unwavering faith, he continues to inspire altar servers to serve Christ with humility, reverence and courage.

"May we treasure the Holy Eucharist above all else and remain faithful in our service to the Lord."

May Saint Tarsicius intercede for all our altar servers as they continue to serve God and His Church with faithful hearts.
