Story about Saint John Baptist de Rossi

Saint John Baptist de Rossi was born in Italy in 1698. From a young age, he loved prayer, study, and helping the poor. Although he was very intelligent, he suffered from epilepsy and poor health for much of his life. Despite his sickness, he trusted God completely and continued his mission with humility and love.

As a priest in Rome, Saint John Baptist de Rossi became known for his compassion toward the forgotten people of society. He visited prisons, hospitals, and shelters, caring especially for the homeless, the sick, and abandoned women. He spent long hours hearing confessions and guiding sinners back to God’s mercy.

Many people admired him not because of wealth or power, but because of his gentle heart and holiness. He taught that true greatness is found in serving others with love. Even when exhausted and ill, he continued helping souls until his death in 1764.

Today, Saint John Baptist de Rossi is remembered as a model of mercy, humility, and charity. His life reminds us that holiness is not about being perfect, but about loving God and caring for people faithfully every day.

Let us Pray

A short history about St Bernardine of Siena

Saint Bernardine of Siena was born in 1380 in Massa Marittima, Italy. Orphaned at a young age, he was raised by pious relatives who nurtured his deep love for God and service to others. As a young man, he became known for his charity, especially during a plague in Siena where he courageously cared for the sick.

He later joined the Franciscan Order (OFM) and became one of the greatest preachers of his time. Saint Bernardine traveled throughout Italy preaching repentance, peace, honesty in business, and devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus. He popularized the Latin monogram “IHS” (Iesus Hominum Salvator — Jesus, Savior of Humanity), encouraging people to place Christ at the center of their lives.

Known for his eloquence, wisdom, and holiness, he helped reform the Franciscan Order and inspired countless people to return to God. Saint Bernardine died in 1444 and was canonized only six years later because of his extraordinary impact on the Church and society. He is the patron saint of advertisers, public relations workers, and those suffering from hoarseness.

A short history about Saint John I

Saint John I was Pope from 523 to 526 AD during a difficult time when the Church faced political tension and persecution. He was known as a gentle, holy, and faithful leader who tried to bring peace between rulers and Christians.

During his papacy, the Ostrogothic king Theodoric the Great, who ruled Italy, sent Pope John I to Constantinople to speak with the Eastern Roman Emperor Justin I. The Pope hoped to help restore peace and protect Christians from conflict. Although he was received with great honor in Constantinople, King Theodoric became suspicious that the Pope was favoring the emperor.

When Saint John I returned to Italy, the king imprisoned him in Ravenna. Because of the harsh treatment, suffering, and poor conditions in prison, Pope John I died in 526 AD. He was honored as a martyr because he remained faithful to Christ and the Church despite persecution and injustice.

Today, Saint John I is remembered as a courageous Pope who chose faithfulness, peace, and truth even in suffering. His feast day is celebrated today, May 18.
